Hockney channeling Stella?

Looks a little like he was channeling Frank Stella.
The Maul show is solid so far. A slightly grittier tone than the movies, and in no danger of too much (or any?) fan service.
And the animation is some of the most beautiful they’ve done… many of the scenes appear painted which is a novel style.

This is makes me happy
Gainesville has 2 first rate Indian lunch buffet options. Most people know about Indian Cuisine, but fewer know about Mint which has recently expanded. Their all-vegetarian menu is wonderful.
I’m so grateful to them for serving Gainesville.
And Lo, it shall come to pass
the frogs will be made gay
and a rainbow will be set
over the sign of mine enemies.
Look, for my money the absolute game changer technologies right now are batteries and biosciences, not statistically modeling a mid conversation, but you do you.
This is so good I almost don’t believe it.
Yeah… I think the Times is supporting an ignorant framing. It consistently feels like they’re engaging on issues of personality re: Mamdani instead of issues of theory and reality… you know, reporting
Wouldn’t this be cool if it was because we’d figured out how to harness the free energy of the sun or cold fusion or whatever?
If AI doesn’t pan out, this is gonna be an epic crash.
A tenured Columbia professor counts as one of NYC’s elites. If you’re tenured at Columbia, you’re one of the country’s elites. That type of credibility opens doors to all sorts of elite opportunities.
Not that the Times’ framing makes much sense. But his parents were certainly elite.
This is short form. My reasoning is opaque to you. What I’ve stated is my opinion. If you’re unfamiliar with the arguments behind people who hold my point of view, I bet a few minutes with a search engine could help you find stuff to read. A good place to start may be Amusing Ourselves to Death.
Neither did social media. But the generation born knowing nothing but social media and the 24 hour news cycle came of age around then.
The medium is the message. It just takes a minute to sink in.
It’s the 24 hour news cycle and social media, not world events.
Aren’t Roman Catholics the single largest denomination? Hard to really consider them a minority even if there are more Protestants as a bloc.
Well, that was a rough fucking season of The Pitt.
Ugh. Excellent television, but, ugh.
I have such a hard time believing that that person is real. Such a caricature.
The desire to pile on is so strong.
lol at the Vatican clapback to Vance
When Pope Leo speaks “he is not merely offering opinions on theology. He is preaching the gospel.”
Probably the best cop movie
I bet you could find ways to criticize them that doesn’t mischaracterize our stuff in a harmful way.
I agree with Ben that if it’s something you do a lot, maybe it would be cool if you didn’t utilize the ancient antisemitism underpinning Christianity to do it. Like, we understand that using their own shit against them is effective but you’re continuing the cycle of ahistorical antisemitic reading.
ChatGPT: you’re right you’re so much smarter than him. He’s so schlubby and you’re so suave. Columbo will never catch you.
People who didn’t listen to the NYTimes report on the dude last week maybe don’t realize that he’s a young autisitic dude who got hyperfixated on the numbers/process of his stupid gig.
He’s not a sexual creep, he’s actually sterilized himself with all the drugs.
I take back everything bad I ever said about AI.
So, maybe this is why people feel poorer than they are?
Because being a millionaire (which I interpret as having at least $1 million in liquid or semiliquid assets) feels like significant wealth to me. But I know many people feel like Jerry here.
