People waking in front of a wall, above them reflections in the shiny station wall showing a pastiche of reflections
Hello Brummingham
"On both sides, there's this thought that 'the other side just wants to kill us.' Even if you know that the other side is human, when you meet someone with a story, it's a very meaningful process."
Tonight is the 21st joint Israeli-Palestinian Memorial Day ceremony.

Trying to get to Birmingham for teaching but easyJet has let us board the wrong plane. 🤦♂️ they also put the baggage onto the wrong plane. So this will be fun.
Aerial view of large scale devastation inflicted on the southern Lebanese town of Bint Jbeil, with an Israeli tank parked in the center of the photo.
This is what Israel has done to Bint Jbeil, my hometown in southern Lebanon
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez today urged the EU to end its association agreement with Israel.
Please take good care of yourself! Do not hesitate to take a break, it’s been a long slog to get the books published and sent as well.
Jesus fucking Christ.
Burn them all before they burn the entire planet for this nonsense.
The barriers put up over the years (regardless of the initial reason) are hard to tear down and encourage business as usual. Even in times where change is needed. I hope other countries and newer economies will adapt faster than expected to compensate.

Please, someone update this mural with the flames that this "future"—already present—deserves 🔥
There’s no way for the US out of its combustion engine car and plane centric economy anymore, I suspect. No rail infrastructure to speak of, no EV infra, little in terms of building efficiency standards, all built to sell and scrap. Writing’s on the wall.
Our slop era intrinsically leans fascist.
There have been long and expensive wars over this in the past, that are not to be repeated.
Because then every country that sits besides important shipping channels can do so. Denmark, Sweden, England, France, Germany, middle eastern countries on the Red Sea, Spain, Morocco, China, India, etc.. all just so they don’t blow the ships out of the water. it will be chaos.
Hoping for many more expansions to come 😉

"Every day, we see impacts of the restrictions on entry of medical supplies into #Gaza in our hospitals and clinics.” – Dr. Randa Abu El-Khair Masoud, Project Medical Advisor.
She describes the immense strain that restrictions have placed on our teams: www.doctorswithoutborders.ca/palestine-is...
I’ll only be upbeat when one particular message comes from the White House. Still waiting for that day.
“Rahmstorf, who has studied the Amoc for 35 years, has said a collapse must be avoided ‘at all costs.’ ‘I argued this when we thought the chance of an Amoc shutdown was maybe 5%, and even then we were saying that risk is too high, given the massive impacts. Now it looks like it’s more than 50%.’”
Americans in the 2000s owe Shirow Masamune for calling him a pervert when his "fetish" is "adult women who are self-possessed and engaging in consensual sex"
I will be in Ireland and sharing all the opinions about science in/with/for/by communities! Join us if you can 🧪!
Fallback to a friendly mastodon instance (if you can find one)… 😉
Always the plan.
... and before people get scared by the GitHub page: Fourier Tiler is a completely GUI based, user friendly program anyone can play with, and it does not require any installation 😉
Please have also a look at the manual, where I show examples of educational uses of it.

Philosophically the difference between a gangster and a warlord is just the difference between 9mm and 152mm, but practically that’s the most important ~14cm you will ever see.
It’s almost as if we would need a sort of international law of the sea… maybe one that guarantees passage in shared waters… 🤦♂️
