My youtube live coverage ended up being the most-watched content on my channel, and I got more views than all the local news outlets combined. I think the fact that local news also didn't even bother to cover it should tell you what a nothingburger this was, despite the incredible turnout.

No companies lost productivity. It had food trucks, permits and nicely cordoned-off designated protest areas. It's all packaged and safe. It's performative, giving people something to do, make them feel like they did something while achieving nothing. It's astroturfed, sanitized and fake.

No Kings was a festival, not a protest. It wasn't applying pressure or inconveniencing anyone in power. Politicians had no more reason to care about it than Coachella. Protest needs to be disruptive. Affecting real change requires being a thorn in the side of authority and this just ain't it.
