Yea, but its more fun to conspiratorially suggest that promoting dbt is yet another example of Posit diminishing R and pushing users towards their enterprise products like Posit Workbench + Snowflake.

{targets} and dbt are v similar. I even based the {sqltargets} demo on dbt's Jaffle Shop examples. Biggest difference here is that dbt will materialize models as views/tables inside the db, whereas {sqltargets} just caches them per targets options. Maybe a new release will write to the db as well.

{sqltargets} 0.3.0 just hit CRAN, now includes the ability to pass 'dbi' parameters into queries. Turns out using SQL with #rstats {targets} is pretty fun!
