For the record, I don't draw, I had a miserable training in 3D at a school that was practically a scam. I learned pixel art on this project, and I don't consider myself to have 20% of the talent of many artists. But you have to keep the project going.

Our big fault is that we chose to make a first project that took so long to develop. It's not easy at all, and we've gone through a lot of more or less pleasant stages to get to this point.

I think the trend is pretty cool in the sense that it shows the different stages of a project. Maybe the first GIF isn't so bad, but you can see a real evolution in the second. The first one is simply there to show that we already had the gameplay of the game at the time, with a lot of [...]
To tell the truth, the game has been in development since early 2020 (the start of writing, and we're really bad at it). We're two developers, with no funds (we dev serious games on the side, and barely make a decent salary), and Ill Tower is our first really big project.
This statement has never been more true.
It took us a while, but there was a huge step between these two stages!

Another example is the interaction UI, which changes depending on whether you're using a keyboard or a controller. For the last, we chose to display the 4 buttons with the one to be used “highlighted”, rather than displaying Y or △ according to the device.

Atm, we're mainly working on small "comfort" aspects of the game, like this animation when the character loses life. It's a whole range of little things that improve the overall look.
