Obviously it still fits within the realm of post-Destiny since none of that space has been explored in canon, but it's another good example of how SRW writers have a firm grasp on how to write extended stories using this game as a context anchor.
Much like how Shinji was made better in SRW games.
Example, in "The Charge of the Red Comet" Kira mentions how he sought out Char because of Char's previous alliance with Durandel. That was his moral quandary in the movie, starring at the files and the flashback scenes.
Then later on, Shinn is fussing over wanting to be better for Kira in battle.
If I didn't know better judging from the way some of the character dialogue is done in #SRWY I'd guess they really did want to do the SEED Freedom movie as DLC, but maybe couldn't make it in time. A lot of the Char-Kira and Shinn-Kira interactions feel like they tee up the movie.

"Lethality" is today what "synergy" was yesterday.
As a kid, the space program was something I loved, and when we got to go to Houston as they were about to begin the ISS program that was some of the coolest shit. I also lived near the space museum in Ohio and that was fun to look at.

I was able to buy a refurb Steam Deck last week during the Spring Sale, and it has been amazing thus far. I immediately installed SRWY and SRW30, as well as a few other games from my backlog I want to finish. The screen is bright, the controls are pretty good, and it's a well-polished machine.
And perhaps SA's writers didn't fully nail it. That's fine. I don't think any of the shows' first seasons nailed it perfectly, but back then networks ordered seasons in bulk. Today's producers are lucky to get a second season pre-lit. The dynamics have changed, while the viewership has not.
Now, do I want zoomer-streamer-influencer lexicon and quipping in MY Star Trek? Not really. But I am not the target audience. Just as TNG, DS9, and Voyager's target audience wasn't TOS fans first and foremost. It's about getting new fans into the room while still making something old fans can enjoy.
Berman-Trek stans LOVE their classically-trained Shakespearean actors, which is why they hate #StarfleetAcademy. They hate the fact that this modern cast plays their characters more like Gen Z Twitch streamers cosplaying as Trek characters than Boomer Theater Mains cosplaying as Trek characters.
Because yeah, a lot of it isn't that great. Discovery was middling, only Picard S3 was good, Lower Decks and Prodigy were amazing, SNW was okay, and the S31 movie was passable. Definitely room for improvement.
But the way these assholes act it's as if someone pissed on their TOS cheerios.
