My dataviz recommendation would be to have multiple chart views:

- a line graph (without the areas shaded, so you can easily see how each type of funding changed over time)
- a small multiple chart, showing the same but with panels splitting it up for different funders or types of funding

Hah you'd have to ask them since I'm no longer there, though I can pass on the suggestion.

What's the metric where cG is the largest funder, out of curiosity? All global health philanthropy?

(As it turned out, there was no WiFi on the flight.)

Thanks to British Airways for sending me an email with the subject line 'Update on in-flight Wi-Fi on your flight' and text just saying 'Dear Customer,' and ending there.

Equilibrium distribution of population if the surface of the world was shaped like a cow [Matlab code].

Donβ€˜t know when, where, and why I saved this image, but it seems somewhat fitting.

Highly recommended read! I learnt a lot.

I'm a fan of this model.

While there are sometimes trade-offs between rigorous practices and speed, there are also many win-win ideas that mean we don't need to compromise at all, and we can improve both at once.

The RECOVERY trial is probably the best example.

It identified dexamethasone as a life-saving COVID-19 treatment within months of the pandemic, and enrolled over 40,000 patients using a two-page consent form.

In a single trial, it tested over a dozen treatments within two years.

What's most interesting to me is that rigour doesn't have to mean bureaucracy.

For decades, some researchers have been pushing for larger, simpler, more efficient trials that are arguably more rigorous than their bureaucratic counterparts.

Clinical trials today are highly bureaucratic, expensive, and time-consuming. Most trials fail to recruit enough participants to answer their questions at all.

This great post by Adam Kroetsch explains how things got this way.

Discussing your interest in girls' topography: subtle, classy, sexy yet refined

Discussing your interest in girls' topology: absolute filthy smut, irredeemable, obscene to the Nth degree now go and figure out what N is you complete degenerates

As a spiritual wine mom, who doesn't drink much alcohol and isn't a mom either, I just think adults deserve small indulgences that make life feel manageable, such as not looking up what topology means before making a joke about it

omg yes! that explains it

Topology is informally about studying which shapes can be continuously deformed into each other β€” the classic example being that a coffee mug and a donut are "the same" topologically because one can be smoothly morphed into the other (they both have exactly one hole).
So "girl topology" would be about which types of girls can be continuously deformed into each other. The joke is that Saloni is interested in knowing which girl types are topologically equivalent β€” i.e., which ones are secretly the same girl just stretched or squished a bit. Can a horse girl be smoothly transformed into a wine mom? Is a girl boss just a deformed tiger mom?

I was simply interested in which girls were secretly the same girl if they were stretched or squished a bit

How am I supposed to know what topology actually means?! It's not like I have access to some universal searchable engine that can give me encyclopedic answers to my trivial questions

I just assumed it meant the study of shapes and surfaces

I think a girlboss is a senior version of a corporate girly, one who's a CEO or leader and more assertive

> I come home, in the mornin' light
My mother says, "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh momma dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls, they wanna have fun
Oh girls just wanna have fun

I think it refers to girls in general, or all girls, rather than a subset.

I'm very confused by this video, but I don't know if it's because I'm not a zoomer or because I'm a ciabatta

My girl typology radar chart

My girl typology radar chart

I'm pleased to share I'm similarly winemom, girlboss and highlighter girl.

But now I'm wondering, what if they're correlated or there's a secret latent type of girl that describes me better than all of them?

Yes! It literally means that, but also the behavior/personality of someone who's very earnestly and intensely interested in horses. Sometimes horse girls also play video games featuring horses. I've heard that Red Dead Redemption is the game of choice because of its realistic horseriding features

Well that does make sense, I'm glad the term is logical

I've been misled about my similarities to ciabatta 😞

I'm interested in that too, but for different reasons
