Through all the day to day distractions, our long term problems with healthcare remain
Forget "total cost of ownership." In the UK, the average EV is now cheaper than the average ICE vehicle, up front. Sticker cost.
And of course the savings just keep accumulating after that.
A hundred years ago, the U.S. had a nationwide network of short-line railroads that connected most urban and rural communities. By the 1940s, most of it had been dismantled ... by the barons of the auto and oil industries. 😑
Trust your common sense: yes, a series of massive fossil fuel supply shocks is, in fact, going to radically accelerate the process of electrification & decarbonization.
And that is why we still need professors and universities. Professors assign what to read and in amounts that should fill the students’ time, and the university provides the learning environment.
The human brain figures out quickly what information and memories are useless and discards them.
The slow speed to input data results in two big constraints, time and content, and education requires judicious use of both. Wasted time is the enemy of education. Reading a lot of trash either in print or online not only wastes time but fills your brain with trash at least temporarily.
A human brain is like a computer but there’s one big difference. Humans are very slow in uploading data into those brains. How slow? 200 words per minute let’s say. That tells you all you need to know.
"Alligator Alcatraz" already has a bad reputation for its poor treatment of immigrants. But often, things at the facility allegedly get even worse. Things like reports of beatings and confinement while exposed to the elements. It never stopped.

Tesla paid $1 billion in taxes to China & $0 in federal income taxes to the US. At least 88 highly profitable corporations paid $0 federal income tax last year while bringing in $ billions. Disney, CVS, Palantir, Taco Bell & others are making massive profits, paying executives enormous ⬇️
One argument they are saying is that in Salt Laken City they will be closer to the nation’s forests. But 75% of the nation’s forests are east of the Mississippi.

The alternative is no automotive manufacturing in the US.
It will be Trump’s fault, but the next Democratic President is going to have to do it.
Where this is headed: if the US wants and auto industry, there will need to be another bailout, a huge bailout the likes of which has never been seen, to compete.
The end result of the flip flopping US govt support of EVs is that US auto manufacturers can’t compete with Chinese EVs.

Should I resubscribe to support the Wash Post? I don’t think so.
Yeah they paid good money to get Congress to pass their tax breaks.
