These sound kind of like Robert Ludlum or Trevanian novels. "The Orban Humiliation" "The Eiger Sanction" "The Melania Betrayal" "The Bourne Identity". Maybe the next one will be "The Heart Attack".

I've never been able to watch that dude in anything else TBH.
My profile pic is from my favorite film, _Werckmeister Harmonies_, directed by Béla Tarr (or Tarr Béla).
He was an outspoken critic of nationalism in general and specifically Orban. Sadly, he passed away in January of this year. I would have liked him to have seen this victory.
I drifted away but never forgot the people or the conversations, and I've remained interested in their history and culture and language.
In ~2002, I randomly started playing a MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) that was hosted at the University of Szeged and developed by students there.
The people I met there were always kind and friendly and great to talk with.
A series of posts from journalist Mark Chadbourn reporting on the acceptance speech of Péter Magyar after Hungarian elections: Péter Magyar: "Our country wants to live again. It wants to be a European country again." Mark Chadbourn• @chadbourn.bsky.social • 24m Magyar's speech is powered. From a contact in the audience: "He's basically just asked all the puppets, all the supreme justices, all the heads of media, all the heads of the ministries to leave their jobs tomorrow and not wait to be fired." •.. Mark Chadbourn• @chadbourn.bsky.social • 20m Magyar says he's starting work with the EU and NATO immediately. "The EU doesn't have to worry anymore."
From new Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar's acceptance speech tonight. This is the absolute BARE MINIMUM platform for any Democrat running for President in 2028.
A lot of British foods, stores, etc sound like zoomer sex work slang to me:

I Saw the TV Glow
I guess I'm running quite a bit behind, but I thought _I Saw the TV Glow_ was absolutely amazing.
My minilab's just a distributed system playground, really. I'd measure ROI in terms of "will this help me get a job in France in 2028?" which, IDK, I'm probably up shit creek six or seven different ways. But that's one of the things I'm hoping to explore to differentiate myself a bit.

I will remember and reach out. I actually vibe-coded a website to (re-)build/enrich/deepen my logic/reasoning/math skills (bit-wit.com), since you mention nerd-sniping lol.
Cool, I follow him already because of someone else's mention... and when two events pertaining to the same object of inquiry occur simultaneously, I pay strict attention.
One problem is my math ain't up to snuff, so I'm working on relearning that to get into higher math.
I'm deeply interested in complex systems and I'm also intensely anxious. I used to go in a TDD direction (#AnxietyDrivenDevelopment). But y'know what Djikstra said about testing... I accepted that fairly quickly.
I'm thinking about getting into TLA+ and using that to try to formally verify parts of my minilab.
I've considered going this direction with my career. I'm an SRE/DevOps/infra guy primarily but I'd like to move in a more formal direction.
This is something I'd like to talk and think about more.
Yeah, I remember Jaz drives and Zip drives. My buddy gave me a couple with the South Park "The Spirit of Christmas" short, some Afrosquad videos, etc.
Mr. Ed, I don't feel so good...
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win" energy.
I grew up in the '90's playing "hey, where do we know that character actor from" with my family.
It's interesting to me how much more exposure I need to films of a certain age before I start recognizing people. I assume everybody's a nobody until proven otherwise. "Oh shit, that's Sterling Hayden!"
Sometimes I have to use a prebuttal if I haven't been eating enough fiber.

I've heard that since they make their money through financing, they resist this at all costs... so the thing to do is to get the loan and pay it in full as soon as possible 😩
Maybe, but I can't play anything for shit anyway.
I love Bass VI's. Maybe I should make a fretless nylon Bass VI...
Haven't yet but I intend to start.

It's my wife's birthday, so she and I and our kid watched _Empire Records_ on Sunday 😀
Their effect has often depended as much on their own limitations in perceiving the truth as on their practical wisdom in proclaiming it."
- B. H. Liddell Hart, _Why Don't We Learn From History?_
Yet it also becomes clear that the acceptance and spreading of their vision has always depended on another class of men, 'leaders' who had to be philosophical strategists, striking a compromise between truth and men's receptivity to it.
