They're beautiful. Tell me you took more photos! Gandalf? Gandalf!?!

A favourite from Aimee Mann, from a movie that sadly was never more prescient..
Would love if you'd take a listen.
But dang, it salts the old wounds to be reminded just how much of a monopoly that website had, and how our game might've been played by a few more people if it had ever been given a mention there.
Aaand that's enough vulnerability for one morning. Gotta keep making art, despite everything.
We gambled and lost, but I'm still so proud of what we made. The few folk who reviewed our game online loved it, and said it was good for the soul, that they felt seen.
The two of us did everything we could as penniless indies to make it a success, and we'd do it all again exactly the same today.
It was too femme-coded, too wholesome - but truly independent from the marketing entities holding the corner on wholesome and cozy at the time. It was lo-fi, inclusive, gentle, and very intentionally so.
from comprehensive lists of upcoming adventure game titles, the message is clear.
Don't get me wrong, Shindig is weird and scrappy, and we knew our audience would be niche at best. It didn't fit the nostalgic adventure game template. Folk decided it was for kids.
Tumbleweeds from THE big site about our game's genre sucked. They had codes, we exchanged friendly messages, but no mention ever materialised. As an indie, all you can do is beg for coverage, and when a site presents itself as the authority on a genre but your game is excluded, even
As an adventure game dev who couldn't get the website their list is based on to even mention our game's existence, it stings to be reminded that maybe if it had been, Shindig might've reached more of an audience at the time, or even later on.
I've been dragging my heels on watching the recent Adventure Game Sommelier videos from @innuendostudios.bsky.social and @questingrefuge.bsky.social because I suspected I'd find myself grieving again, and...I was right.
One of the best things I've ever bought is a microwave popcorn maker, which is basically just a silicone bowl with a loose fitting lid. Being able to have fresh popcorn whenever I want it, and just slightly sweet how I like it, it's just GREAT.
Caught Marina Sirtis' talk at the Kent Comic Con today, and what a classy lady! Hilarious, engaging, and charismatic. Hats off.
(Some old lady tried to slut shame her in the Q&A and she was having none of it. It was quite magnificent.)
If you ever get chance to see her speak, I urge you to go.
A close-up of a torrie cat looking into the camera. She's beautiful.
A picture of an orange tabby under an umbrella. He's beautiful.
A photo of a brown tortie cat and an orange tabby snuggled up on an armchair with their butts together. They're beautiful.
Dorothy taking a selfie. Spark posing with his parasol. Both, in a beautiful moment of "What if we snuggled up with our butts together?"
GO for the moon! Beaming well-wishes for a safe journey home up into the firmament with my Kim Deal-style acoustic cover of All Star by Smash Mouth.
Would love if you'd take a listen ๐งก
The voice acting in this game is *fantastic*. They've done so much to make me care about the other humans, just by having them voiced convincingly.
A classy jazz standard from a bygone era, yeah, that's this week's song.
Would love if you'd take a listen ๐งก
Please bear in mind I detest everything about April Fools i.e. Sanctioned Cruelty Day...
But this one is fine by me.
Yay! I've finally put together some nice chords for a jazz classic I've wanted to be able to play since I was a tiny child.
I'm so, so pleased with myself right now!
Posting my pics because I like pretty blips on the timeline...
Happy Dave-day!
If I'd known how much hot monorail action there was going to be, I'd have played The Talos Principle 2 long ago.

Another day, another unfollowing of folk using AI because they can't imagine what tiles will look like, or the orientation of a pool they're planning. Ffs.
HAPPY FRIDAY! Two songs this week, so the ones it's somehow never *quite* the time for finally see the light of day.
A tad polar to the Britney, this one's originally from sensitive alt-rockers The Weakerthans, off one of my favourite albums of all time: Reconstruction Site.

Two songs this week, so the ones that would wallow in my drafts actually get some love! Here's some acoustic Britney:

Please, for the love of all that is holy*, could the AI bubble burst so Big Business can stop telling the emperor how nice he looks.
*Effort. Care. The Process. Emotion. Invention. Intention. And a thousand other human conditions that make Art more than just something in galleries.
I was like IS THAT EL TEN ELEVEN WITH AWESOME COSTUMES ON? But no, it's a whole 'nother looping guitar/bass and drums duo. Excellent, even more cake.๐๐๐
I'm late to the party, but just so it doesn't go unsaid, Waitress: The Musical was brilliant.
Oops I did it again,
I bulk bought some shit,
'Cos it's much cheaper than
a smaller package,
Oops looks like I'm in love,
And I'm gon' use it
AAAA-AAAA-AAAA-ALL,
I just

CHE-MI-CALS.
Watching The Lowdown and it's good so far, and a lot of me saying to the TV, "What are you DOING?"
