The chart shows the causes of forest loss worldwide 2001-2024. The top semicircle shows percentages lower than 5% and the lower semicircle shows percentages above 5%. The data points are shown as thick colorful lines from the centre of the semicircles that end in a dot. The colours of the lines reflect a category (wildfire, logging...), the dots are either black or white to represent permanent and non-permanent forest loss.

It starts with the donut chart from the World Resources Institute, a first hand-drawn idea implemented with LibreOffice Impress (OSS equivalent to PowerPoint) and then with JS.
