It’s my birthday today. Mine, the late queen’s, Robert Smith’s, and Charlotte Brontë’s.
We’re in a state of emergency and I have a cold and have completely lost my voice.
Despite the obstructions, I’ve had a good day. There was cake and Miss P made me a birthday card and wrote lovely things in it.

AI-generated images behind increase in insurance fraud An insurer reports a 71% rise in fraudulent claims, driven partly by an increase in faked images.

False positives happen. How long until we hear about genuine, honest claims being rejected because insurers believe the images are AI fakes?

The kind of AI that techbros and governments are pushing is not the internet, or cell phones, or personal computers, or heavier than air flying machines, or the wheel.

It's the digital equivalent of asbestos, plastics, teflon, and lead.

means her 7200 tons of copper figure is probably way off, possibly by an order of magnitude, especially considering that by the time the turbines are on order, technology will probably have improved even more.

How many tons of copper will we recover from all the soontobescrapped ICE vehicles in NZ?

I think she's using old data (2021) for her copper usage calcs as well as taking a worst case scenario.

Just as total copper used in an EV drops dramatically when you move from the old 400V to 800V systems the same applies to turbines. Couple that with using aluminium cabling to shore... 1/2

“Funding for resilience needs to not be a 'marketing exercise': Luxon”

When our 6pm news (largely watched by older viewers) fails to point out what this govt has done to plunge us into a far worse situation re; climate resilience/adaptation, it is a total failure of the 4th estate. Imho. #nzpol

I think her maths is all wrong, and she's just given the cookers more fuel to add to the "EV batterys catch fire and aren't recyclable" bullshit.

If the oil crisis turns into a full blown food crisis and national disaster in the next few months, the National Party will be wiped out at the next election and will never recover. So yeah, this might be a good time to get out

So one of our biggest insurers said we've got to move from a "react and respond" to "better preparation as a Nation going forward".

Pretty explicit.

Ofc, that was an excellent opportunity for a real news person to step in and say, "Yes, what Greens have been pushing for, hmmm, DECADES?"

16 hours ago 20 9 1 0

The insurance companies are more aligned with the Greens view of climate change, adaptation, and the locked in effects than the current Government of New Zealand.

I am definitely worried about people getting way dumber, way more pilled, way more confused, way more brainwashed, way more ideologically splintered, and having intellectual development issues from AI. Not because of the inherent nature of AI but because that is what they want it to do.

We know he’s genuinely and irrevocably embattled when it’s the headline in the international media

Like my new sticker?

Runs on Aussie sunshine ☀️

No fuel stops. No price shocks. Just charge at home and drive.

This isn’t a drivetrain swap, it’s a system flip. From imported oil to rooftop energy.

Once the fleet scales, the economics break fast.

Cost always wins. #Bettrification
