waymo launching pilot in austin where they partner with waze to report potholes to the city and state (and to waze users), this is pretty cool
the only times I've ever fallen off my e-bike is when I didn't see an insane pothole in time and wiped out

tmrw is the last day to submit feedback for the I-35 Central Small Area Mobility Plan
this mobility study is looking into identifying projects to fill in gaps within the infrastructure for the corridors listed below in the study area

that's a wrap on the first SXSW post-convention center demolition, glad to see so much unofficial/free concert programming prevail throughout the construction
SXSW continues to be one of the most rewarding weeks to rely exclusively on walking/bike/transit in austin
seeing lots of new art installations around the lake ahead of sxsw
hike/bike access to the 35 bridge over town lake has now been removed on the east side of the bridge as the 35 construction continues
you can still access the 35 bridge on foot or bike on the older, more narrow, less safe blocked off edge on the west side of the bridge tho
more info about the congress ave urban design initiative work that has already begun:
progress at the site of the upcoming building next to the hyatt regency
crane coming down for the waterline tower on rainey st - at 1,025 ft tall, it becomes austin's first supertall tower, surpassing the chase tower in houston as the tallest tower in TX
this is all my fault after I got an e-bike 🤧

initial rendering of new potential dirty 6th street plan
an early '26 study will explore final design decision
despite pro-bike lane feedback, the city wants to prioritize foot traffic on 6th itself - staff will explore opps to add/improve E-W bike lanes on other DT streets to improve bike network

construction progress on sixth&blanco (previously named clarksvillage)
can't we get more interesting building names than a development's cross streets? 🥱
"Do we want downtown to be a place to drive through quickly during rush hour, or do we want downtown to be a destination, as a place to come?"
I'm sure the underinformed ppl that never go DT will act like this proposal will Ruin Our City as usual lol but this would be awesome
"2 way streets...have a record of decreasing congestion, benefiting local businesses, increasing safety, & helping first responders to get through"
"in Louisville, KY, 2-way street conversion resulted in -49% crashes, +39% property value, & -23% crime"

wow, the big tree that used to lean over the shoal creek trail just north of the 9th st bridge at duncan park is a goner - guess it was dying or something
on the bright side, you can bike on this part of the trail now without needing to slow down or duck your head
the belvedere construction coming along nicely
This one's for the peds! Austin Transportation & Public Works is turning the old section of Red River alongside Waterloo Park into a new public plaza made for people, not cars 👌
Submit your feedback for the visioning phase before 12/1 to influence the plaza design: speakupaustin.org/PikePowersPlaza
the rendering vs final result for the rooftop of the new colorfield condos at the base of castle hill lol...
