The painful truth is that the account was shut down the moment it became clear it was created from inside Gaza. It seems we are no longer allowed to write or speak about what is happening to us here. They are not afraid of content itself, but of our voices and the reality we carry with us. Millions are spent to silence these voices and to erase the truth. I am exhausted by this platform and by how our photos and videos, which document real suffering, are treated as “violations of community standards,” as if pain itself has become a crime. What is happening is not simple moderation or policy enforcement. It is an attempt to erase our existence and bury the truth. And honestly, this is shameful and unbearably painful. Again, Tales of the Shire probably deserves a shellacking, and I don't want to malign a piece that is far from thoughtless, but the criticisms that this genre draws are a little too clear in wanting something different from the games they keep asking for it from.

If you want your specific ideas of community care represented within a fiction, you gotta do it! Write or program it the way that represents your viewpoint! Criticism amounting to "why didn't *you* make it this way?" *when a game clearly succeeds at what it wants to be* is endemic to this discussion

I am very glad you engage with works like Citizen Sleeper. But what the fuck has that got to do with Stardew Valley, Walter? Or anywhere else? The labor of caring for community in the traditional "cozy" game is abstracted, the same way army logistics are made into little gold coins in a Total War

The writer at least picks a valid target in specific, but in talking about "cozy" broadly this piece engages in the same thought-terminating clichés people love to use when they talk about this genre: a lot of over-intellectualization and citation to dress up an aesthetic preference for friction
