A windy day on Tuesday, walked up to Cruachan Dam & then up Ben Cruachan and back into winter. No view from the summit although it cleared later so had a nice view back to the summit. Then along the ridge to the second Munro of the day, Stob Daimh. Lovely views down Loch Etive to Glen Coe.
I was just below Carn Elrig yesterday - glorious indeed 😊

Today is the #SpringEquinox - when day & night are of equal length. It signals the transition from cold winter months to the warm days of spring.🥳 It's significant in the Celtic calendar symbolising balance, renewal and the awakening of nature. How will you chose to farewell Winter & welcome Spring?
Also sending my love to everyone who might find today difficult because they no longer have a Mum or haven't had the chance to become one yet xx

A wooden bridge, deeply incut and damaged by flooding on one side.
☹️ Bad news: Recent flood damage has shut the road bridge into Spittal of Glen Muick car park - including to walkers.
It's a popular starting point for walks at Glen Muick, plus Lochnagar and other Munros on that side of the Cairngorms.

🌸Happy #MeteorologicalSpring!🌸
It’s the time when the world starts to shake off its winter slumber (and hopefully some of this rain)! 🌱 While some say spring doesn’t officially begin until 20 March (#AstronomicalSpring), meteorologists like to kick it off a little early — today!
This atrocious development has finally been consigned to the bin! We campaigned long an hard on this one, so it is heartening to see the Scottish Government include our concerns about loss of ancient woodland in its reasoning. Congrats to all who fought locally and nationally.👏

Group using ice axes and crampons on snowy slope
It's absolutely full on winter conditions out there if you are heading to Scotland's mountains - and that means you need to carry and know how to use an ice-axe and crampons. If you don't, either choose a walk at lower levels, wait for the snows to melt before tackling the summits...
