Real talk: I stole Photoshop for 25 years, and Adobe got so annoying, even before AI, that I migrated off of all their apps in 2023 and I haven’t missed them really at all. I wasn’t even PAYING, and it was STILL worth leaving.

On gerrymandering: sure, it’s a dirty business. But there’s a strong argument that the Republican Party is a fascist party that supported an overthrow of the government and now covers it up. When the fascists are purged I’ll be happy to discuss more genteel politics. Until then, cut them down.

Always say yes to this, it’s like the ‘are you a god?’ question from ghostbusters.

Also I rather suspect the academic achievement gap - boys now trail girls substantially in the aggregate - has a lot to do with these sorts of attitudes pushing male teachers out of primary school education.

It is bad and false to tell boys and men that they aren't and cannot be nurturers.

True show business facts:

If you did a big thing once, you’re not set for life

If you’re doing a big thing now, streaming money ain’t enough to pad your savings

If you’re not a name, you’re starting from zero after almost every job

An actor’s life is 99% “damn it” and 1% “got it”

Hegseth Borrows Violent Prayer from ‘Pulp Fiction’ to Bless Iran War at April Pentagon Worship Service For the second month in a row, Pete Hegseth, who likes to call himself “secretary of war,” read a violent prayer — that echoes a scene in the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction — during a worship ser...

what’s funny about this is that tarantino wrote this “ezekiel 25:17“ for the film. it isn‘t actually in the bible. publicwitness.wordandway.org/p/hegseth-bo...

Graham Platner is the fucking worst, only exceeded by the dumbest cretins on earth backing him regardless of anything he says. It can’t be anything he does, as he has no record, and so far as I can tell has done nothing ever in his goddamn life that pertains to politics beyond Nazi tattoos.

right after I posted this someone I knew years ago shows up in the piece, and honestly, seems like a good guy with actually compelling priorities for what he's been doing. So good can come from anywhere, even Horace Mann.

Honestly can't tell—do they want me to be thinking about class war and murdering while I read this? Everyone, but especially the author, seems intergalactically out of touch with this actual universe.

I'm kind of fascinated by that big Lauren Sanchez Bezos feature in the Times. There's just nothing going on there at all, no insight or conflict or notable color, so the hook is just "this unfathomably rich but otherwise fatuous person enjoys their lifestyle a great deal." Fantastic stuff.

I didn’t love it (I liked it ok) but Mountainhead is a brilliantly perfectly dumb title for that movie.

It is exhausting and tiresome. Events like this illuminate how dumb and media illiterate most Americans are.

Even if you don’t feel like pretending he’s a good guy who didn’t know about his tattoo or his sexist internet posts or his being a mercenary or bragging about being an edgelord in 2008…he is also totally and completely unqualified to be in the Senate. He has literally no record aside from above.
