For anyone finding this out of context, the argument wasn't that Naruto *is* Shakespeare, but that we analyze Shakespeare for its literary merit when it was media for the masses... just like shonen series!

I miss the Borutwt community activity and many mutuals, but if it's between having rabid assholes in the fandom and this slower, kinder community, I'm happy to live with the latter.

I love claims that Boruto is written like a fanfic. Yes, it's taking the original series, adding additional context, and extrapolating what happens after Naruto ended based on unresolved plot pieces.

That's what a sequel does.

Do you know how much I'd like to spend my lunchbreak spamming the feed about Boruto instead of calling each of my congressional representatives?

People love saying “written like a fanfic” as a pejorative as if fanfic writers aren’t some if the most creative and inspired authors out there 😭 as if it lacks credibility.

I keep looking at this fine piece of art and I can't help but wonder, how did Sasuke end up wearing a shirt and a vest on the field, and Naruto, who has an office, wears an orange tracksuit jacket 🤷🏻‍♀️
