But overall, Venezuelans across the Americas have one shared sentiment of hope. Hope for change, and hope to return home one day.

However, the US president stated earlier he has no plan to push for a regime change.
“I simply fight for the freedom of my country, and if President Trump is one of those people who helps our country emerge from this misfortune that has lasted more than 26 years, then he has all my recognition and all my gratitude,” Cancines told us.
Cancines spoke out against the Chavista admin and was later targeted. He was shot at, chased. Cancines then made the journey to the US alongside his wife. Since the capture of Maduro, he has posted a handful of pro Trump content. When I asked, he explained one important distinction.
I spoke with Carlos Cancines, a 31YO Venezuelan military veteran who served under Maduro. After seeing the suffering and persecution of fellow country men, Cancines left his military career. He and his wife traveled across the border to Colombia, where he opened a restaurant.
