Emergency debris removal from the storm will begin Monday, April 20. The City of #AnnArbor has provided a map of where crews will be coming to collect debris left behind while staff was focused on getting roads, sidewalks, & bike lanes opened. www.a2gov.org/media/nwjpzd... #a2Council
Today and tomorrow the City of #AnnArbor is conducting storm damage assessments. Given the path of the tornado, a significant amount of this work will be done in Ward 5. Here’s what to expect: www.a2gov.org/news/posts/c...

I feel bad for whoever’s car has a tree on it, around the corner from there
Immense gratitude to City staff and first responders who have so far handled 80 calls for downed wires and 53 service requests for downed trees. Thankful for their professionalism and commitment to keeping our City safe and functioning after such a wicked weather event.
Staff will reconvene at the Emergency Operations Center this afternoon after assessing damage. More updates to follow.
The City is in active communication and collaboration with DTE, AAPS, Washtenaw County, and U of M.
The City is aware of seven schools without power and some with roof damage, and damage to Yost Ice Arena.
The east wall at Vets Park has collapsed. The City has Safety, Parks staff, and Works on scene right now. Please stay away from the area as crews are trying to barricade the premises. There are multiple trees down, bleachers wrapped in fencing, debris everywhere. Let crews do their work.
#a2council #annarbor ward 5 took a big hit last night. Please be careful on the roads - many downed trees and power lines. The City has activated its emergency operations center and public safety, parks, and public works… all city staff is working on clean up. 🧵
Agree!
Please provide input on the City of Ann Arbor's Stormwater Comprehensive Plan - the first of its kind in Mich and Great Lakes region - engage.a2gov.org/storm-water-... #a2council
Safe travels!

That’s more of a policy statement than I’ve heard from anyone proposing these ideas!
#A2Council Very good comment on Reddit about the upcoming Ann Arbor Public Power ballot proposal and why it is a counterproductive and dangerous approach: www.reddit.com/r/AnnArbor/c...
We can't afford childcare, groceries, other basic human needs, but sure, let's spend money to build an arch and ballroom.
🎯
"Publicly-owned" & "publicly-funded" without any corresponding proposal as to *how* is an irresponsible promise to make to voters. Creating publicly-owned housing, food programs, etc will significantly increase the City's budget... where's the money coming from? Cuts to current programs & services?
So much winning

Humbled by @votemama.bsky.social #a2council endorsement! 100% shared values: Vote Mama is the only org working to achieve gender equity by breaking barriers moms face & normalizing moms of young children running for office, & researching policies that allow working families to thrive.
Lutz from Eberwhite to Seventh is part of a raw water main replacement & resurfacing project, scheduled in the Capital Improvements Plan in 2029. Lutz from Soule to Eberwhite is not presently scheduled. This Fall, staff will evaluate projects for the Local Street Resurfacing Program in 2028-30.
Screenshot of a tweet by Aaron Rupar stating that Trump claims if the SAVE America Act is passed, Democrats “will never win another election.” The image shows Trump seated and speaking to reporters, with a “Breaking News” banner and “Trump speaks to reporters on Air Force One.”
In case you needed any further evidence that it's about voter suppression…
It's almost street resurfacing season, #a2Council! I'm super stoked by the number of Ward 5 projects, including the desperately needed attention to Montgomery, traffic calming on Doty, and resurfacing of Fifth. More details: www.a2gov.org/engineering/...
A graphic with three outlined figures with arms wrapped around one another, on an orange background. Navy blue text displays title and details for an upcoming "Let's be friends! Board Games" event at AADL.
It can be hard to make friends as adults; AADL is making space for that to happen. Show up to this board game themed meet up, no lecture, no craft, just a gathering of people who want to meet someone new.
Thursday, April 9 at 6 PM at our Pittsfield Branch.

How is this legal?
There was ONE ATC in the tower at LGA during last night's crash.
ONE ATC, at LGA!, dealing w ALL air and ground traffic, including a plane filling w a strange smell and no gate to return to.
The Pentagon wants $200B for a vanity war, but our ATC towers are empty.
Budgets are moral documents.
When Yousef Rabhi talks about making “historic investments” in public housing and co-ops (instead of just, uh, making it legal to build housing), he’s inviting Ann Arbor to make the same bet: let’s try this unicorn solution, whoops it failed oh well I’m going to inherit my parents’ house. #a2council
