There isn’t a direct equivalent, however it is possible to just use this cast on and then rearrange the Stitches on the next row so that it becomes 2 x 2.
Have you tried the alternating cable cast-on before #knitsky?
This is the method I used for my upcoming sweater pattern; it creates a smooth flow straight from the cast-on into one-by-one ribbing. It's so satisfying!
I think we are on the same wave length. 👀
Hey are perfect summer colours! 🥰
Five cones of tweed silk yarns, all different colours, standing in a line.
Carol Feller crouched down in a flowering garden, while wearing a bright pink hand-knit silk top.
We’ve just added more Tussah Tweed to the studio, and I’m already a little obsessed. That dreamy silk with a hint of tweed…
I think I may cast on a new Madison Top in the shade ‘Blue Royal’.
What would you knit with it, #knitsky?

Thank you so much. What colours would you knit it in?
That would be beautiful!
😂
Cute!
If I gave you these two yarns (and an unlimited amount 👀), what would you knit with them?
I’m so curious what you’d all come up with! #knitsky
Mosaic pattern stripes? Yes please! 🥰

Oh I’ll take a look!
What’s your favourite knitting tool? #knitsky
For me, it has to be the Barber Cord (or just a silicone tube). Being able to try sweaters on as I go is fantastic, especially from a design point of view!
Knitting with two strands makes such beautiful fabrics, but it can be tricky.
Ever dropped one strand by accident? #knitsky
I’ve got a tutorial showing how to fix it and troubleshoot double-stranded knitting: youtu.be/1Pe90soNUDM
Oh that’s such a beautiful colour 😍
Oh how wonderful, what colour are you knitting it in? 🥰
Probably the squishiest I’ve ever knit! 👀
A close up photos of a hand-knit chunky sweater, the sweater is knit using hand-dyed pink yarn paired with a lighter cream shade.
It’s #wipwednesday, what are you working on this week?
Here’s a little look at my upcoming Laura’s Sweater release, can’t wait to share the full design with you very soon.
It’s really helpful!
It really is scarier then it looks, I love that feeling once you can finally cut the knitting. 🥰
Curious about steeking? It’s a brilliant technique for colourwork cardigans! #KnittingTipTuesday
I’ll be teaching it (with some Gaudí inspiration) at my Barcelona retreat this November.

It softens up beautifully after blocking!
😂
Hahaha your flying along with it, what colour are you working the cardigan in?
This is the dilemma I face as well. It’s much easier to establish stitch patterns from the bottom up but it’s so nice to try it on from the top down!
A templates image with a blue background and white writing that says “Sweaters, Top down or bottom up?” And a lime green logo in the bottom right corner.
Time for a sweater knitting debate #knitsky!
Top-down or bottom-up: which is your go-to and what makes it your favourite.
Ooh that would be beautiful! 💚
Oh this turned out beautifully 😍
A hand holding a cup of coffee. The cuff of the sweater on the arm comes from a fluffy green hand-knit sweater.
Coming soon... Fluffy, chunky, and surprisingly fast to knit.
