It was a great pleasure to be on the #HERDSA2025 panel on AI this afternoon. I thought I'd post direct links to the resources I mentioned as good ways to keep up with and make sense of genAI in education. Just a few picks to get you started - there are so many amazing people in this space.

I’ve been trying to get this sort of thing happening from different angles in my workplace with mixed success, thanks for articulating the how and why in a coherent package. Very helpful to have something I can point as a rationale in future efforts!

I enjoyed this, Leon! I think you made a good case that they are related.

The question “Just because we can, does that mean we should?” has been central our staff AI literacy and ethics workshops. It’s not just an ethical imperative but also a pragmatic one - and as you say in your article one that everyone, not just staff and students, should be thinking about.

My conclusion? Vibe coding is great for ideating, prototyping and learning about programming and genAI. It's fun and weird and frustrating and creative. But for serious software development, genAI is most useful for coders who know what they are doing.
