Las Vegas Fur Con, yuh. What makes it special is that the main venue (Alexis park) is more of a motel/village style setup instead of an hotel + atrium tower. Lots of outdoor space and no elevators means the whole layout can be used for impromptu events driven by attendees

To be fair though

A lot of furry cons would benefit from con-goers involving themselves more in contributing a bit to the social and event side of things, instead of treating cons like an all-in-one hotel experience in the Caribbean that should unidirectionally cater to them.

Wholeheartedly agree. We shouldn’t let an enclosed space and elevators stop us from having a community-driven experience

I’m actually pretty convinced that having good music fill out the space at LVFC is a reason why the con has such an active community spirit. Love that folks like you find that specific way to contribute <33

Great question! If you have friends who want to host a party, help them set up/run/tear down. If you wander into a party that a stranger puts on, ask them if you can help in any way. If you like to take photos, ask people or suiters how you can get the photos you take to them, and offer more shots!

Nah, I’m saying it’s not for people who to consume and benefit without giving back. Timid people still have endless ways we can contribute :)

LVFC isn’t for those who just wanna reap the benefits of socializing. It’s not for those who sit on the sidelines and wait to be yanked in.

Get those needs fulfilled at other cons.

Four days of seeing a furry village function, THRIVE even, off the efforts of so many hosts, parties, cooks, craftspeople and exhibition artists is a peek into a dream. It’s so amazing BECAUSE it’s true WORK for everyone to make it so.

I’ll try to word it carefully:

LVFC is the best con in America. I’ve been to 40 cons and it’s the best one.

But

Please do not go if you are not generous in spirit, self-sufficient, and community-oriented. You’re wasting space in a beautiful thing if you go only looking to receive entertainment.
