A white tulip with red stripes.
Advantages of a lousy memory: surprising myself in the spring with this I guess I must've planted in the fall!

I deleted the Target app the other day because it wanted to do the 2FA song and dance every time I tried to look at an item. I JUST WANTED THE AISLE NUMBER.
We're the same age, and '03 was the first little crack in my relationship with the Republicans. At least Weigel et al. had the "Well, he's old, and European, and doesn't really keep up with American politics," argument to fall back on. All they've got now is sophism and hair-splitting.
Okay, since writing this, I've gotten clergy
guayabera ads at least three times. 😆
Of the ones you listed, Anne's the only one I cared for, and I think in retrospect it was her obvious case of raging ADHD that really endeared her to me.
Throw in the fact that my dimensions are in four completely different sizes on anyone's chart, and I'm just sewing everything that's not jeans and t-shirts. 🙃
Parrot tulips are blooming after an off year last spring!
To be fair, it's easier to get the woolly mammoths to stand still.
Every so often, Facebook decides that I'm religious, but it probably doesn't matter which one, so I'll get Jewish ads, and Muslim ads, and pagan ads, etc., for like two weeks, and then it chills out and goes back to my regularly scheduled consumerism.
This is a dance-off. If you see this, repost with a dance.
We are! My older daughter was Zita two Halloweens in a row.
It's all those lobster tails they bought, obviously.
Hmm, I'm a big Gene Luen Yang fan, both his original stuff and his work for Avatar, etc. Always looking for recommendations, though! It can get a little intimidating figuring out where a good place to jump into an established series is.
I enjoy them, when I can find where my kids hid them. 😜
Exactly one year ago today:
impeccable
Team Maiasaura here! (which might just be me and the Maiasaura herself, from the looks of it...)
First I'd heard of this and now I'm just going to be sad. (Patrick McHale, even! 😭)
This is sort of an aside, but I really dislike the increased use of the shorthand “cradle Catholic” vs. “convert” to represent the divide between ordinary and MAGA/Vance-type Catholics.
It’s not a good proxy, even if there is a prominent subset of recent converts that seem to make it so.
"The Pope should stay out of politics" basically = "he can talk about sin when it only affects a few people, but not when it hurts a lot of people." Makes no damn sense.
He's a foreign head of state, so probably not, actually.
I've certainly known adult converts who are more like the former, but they're not spouting their opinions all over the place.
In all seriousness, though, how do they do that? It's kind of blowing my mind.
Look, you are allowed to be a Catholic and say the pope got something wrong. But if you make a public statement like "Looks like the pope forgot a little thing called 'Just War Tradition' that says sometimes God *loves* war," then you are plainly too stupid to be in charge of wars, or anything else.
Batman breaks a gun and exclaims, "THIS IS THE WEAPON OF THE ENEMY. WE DO NOT NEED IT. WE WILL NOT USE IT."
GenAI memes used to dunk on the enemy are still GenAI memes.
I caught his voice on the radio news while driving today, and it occurred to me that that never happened with any previous pope, unless maybe I happened to be on the Catholic station (which is a rarity).
This past century is in contention for all-time low papal involvement in politics, really.
