I've just kinda "lived" with this issue for over a year and a half (yay nuerospicy) but uninstalling the thing has literally fixed everything.

It constantly throttled the CPU and I basically couldn't use my MacBook off power.

I only noticed it because a.) Safari kept using "significant amounts of energy" with no tabs open , and then I hopped into activity monitor and noticed not only the power draw but the whopping 16GB of mem used.
