The project is ongoing—hope to share more soon. Reach out if you're in Vancouver and want to talk market risk and political behavior. #APSA2025
Rising energy prices aren’t just about budgets items, they represent exposure to market volatility that can generate financial anxiety and insecurity.
My preliminary findings suggest this burden is linked to declining satisfaction with democracy.
The German govt, meanwhile, announced energy burden relief for industry only— households won’t see immediate cuts to energy taxes.
www.zeit.de/politik/deut...
📊 We hear a lot about the energy crisis and price increases - how are households actually experiencing this?
According to my study (n=3000):
34% of households feel severely burdened
53% had to make unexpected additional payments
40% adjusted home energy use due to rising prices
🚨 Excited to kick off #APSA2025 by attending the PECE pre-conference in Vancouver!
I'm presenting new survey results on the politics of energy burden—specifically, what happens when people in Germany face rising energy prices. ⚡
Congratulations Jan!
Amazing Jacob, huge congratulations!!

✨ Smaller local govts actually permit more housing
✨ Consolidated municipalities = fewer permits, less construction
Why?? Stronger fiscal incentives + closer accountability in smaller jurisdictions
💥 Upshot: Local control isn’t always the enemy of housing growth. (2/2)
