I could totally get that if he had been anything but a 4th line center we can aim higher. Linden mentoring Kesler awesome Blueger mentoring anyone c'mon he's just a typical pro nothing special. He seems more just cuz of what we have had here.

0 years x 0$ is the only deal that makes sense. He will just block a young C from playing. If you could resign and trade for something at the deadline then it would make sense. This year showed they couldn't so what's the point better to use the contact spot on someone who can be flipped
I hope they don't and actually interview 10-20 candidates including RJ and hire the best one and not one that needs mentorship. let him have the job JR can advise and keep FA off new guys back, but JR hasn't been good enough to let him handle the rebuild I want new GM to actually be in charge.
It better be, how can you bring any of them back. The whole group has failed miserably this year, team looks disorganized and management has turned a decent roster into the worst in the NHL over the last 18 months. it's aqualoonie though... If they don't change at least we will finish 32 again.
Yes he fights, has lots of pims
There is about a zero chance of the NHL moving a team out of Vancouver. In terms of revenue it's a top 10 market when they are bad and top 5 when good. Worth too much money for the League to abandon, they would do what it takes to keep them here.
I'm not even sure the drafting has been that good. Development in the ahl looks good, and they keep making very questionable decisions and bleeding value and character guys. Character is important (let's suter walk to bring in Kane). I don't know they have made a lot of mistakes last 18 months.
I agree it's risky, but JR/PA have failed at what the said they were going to do. So trusting them to get a rebuild right is very risky. If they came out and were honest about the job in front of them I might be ok with them staying. But they aren't saying we will be bad for next 2 seasons.
16m is not enough when you have 6 spots to fill and one is Robertson who will take up at least 12m that's 4m left for 5 spots, no way to bring in Petterson. Now next off-season they could but not this one.
It's not really Lanky, it's the team effect. Lanks has a weakness in East West pick movement from top of circles down. #canucks are horrible this season at preventing said passes, therefore more goals and less trust in teammates and confidence in his reads.
He can't be an elite player in the NHL anymore unless he gets his speed back. I don't see that happening, until next season and even then I am doubtful as it's been 2 years at this slow pace.
I never heard that or saw it reported. Not one peep just that they couldn't go long with both, then you look at Quinn's comment re his brother's contract where NJ didn't dick him around and got it done right away for max term. Also how were the Nucks getting to 8 years with no cap space.
You can shit on Hughes all you want, but it was the team (ownership and management) that let him down and failed to build a consistently good team around him.
The reason was that Benning didn't have the cap space as they only had about 16mil on cap space to sign Petterson and Hughes. Reports at the time said they both wanted to sign long term but Canucks didn't have the cap space.
We will likely pick 3rd. considering this draft and the top 2 being wingers there is still a good chance one of McKenna or Stenburg is still available at 3rd. If not there is always Malhotra or Verhoeff. We will have a few drafts near the top to find some great players if we don't this year.
I don't know about that they had never even met before like last year, and just a 3rd to move down from 1st, they would get so ripped by the market. No way they don't make the pick, having never picked first. If they don't want him they will just draft who they think is best.
Yah that's fair... I would just be looking for a way to find a 2nd line C.
Vancouver has 2 goaltenders signed long term with NMC's. They aren't looking for a goalie.
Should be looking at getting Petterson they take back Laine and newhook for the money to work.
Sure risky but how else are you getting a 2nd line C who might be more.
Will have to give a first + as well.
Check to the head needs to be a minimum of 5 games for a first offense, then double it for each offense after. I don't think Rust is a dirty player but we have to take these hits out of the game. If he knows he's getting 10 games next time he makes sure to take a route through the body and low.
That's too bad, my kids all went to a school of choice for elementary school (arts focused) they had all learned the breathing techniques by grade 3. Maybe due to having choir since they do breathing exercises, but knew to use it to calm down and refocus.
I'm pretty sure it is taught in elementary school these days, all my kids seemed to have been taught it... Though we also reinforced it at home, having done calming breathing exercises ourselves for many years.
I'd take a top 2 pick in a heartbeat, at least we would have won the 2nd pick and guaranteed one of Stenburg or McKenna
As fans we should try to be patient. This team has no elite talent, no coach will fix that. Yes we could get a bit more entertainment but still L's. It's ok this season and next 2 we will be one of the worst. Accept the reality of a truly bad team, and hope that the Canucks nail their draft picks
Not much worth keeping, kinda blown up with miller and Hughes gone. Don't have to trade everyone I don't want that but probably still need to trade 2-3 of Debrusk, Garland, Petey, Hronek, Marcus, Boeser, Demko, Lakinen. Plus the ufa's. Say over the next year or 2. Can always sign some cheap vets.
Oh yes well earned bad years due to thoughtless impatient ownership and management. No elite players means it will be rough until we find them in the draft. Probably minimum 3 more painful seasons after this one.
I think you have to accept he doesn't fit the timeline. He will be in his 30s even in an optimistic timeline of us getting back to the playoffs, though he would help you reach the cap floor. Think how he might look if he loses even more speed just as we start getting better, he likely holds us back.
He's good for the tank and likely has zero trade value. Hold him then trade him when he has a bounce back season, hopefully next year or year after. If he doesn't bounce back it won't hurt you probably 4 seasons away from being mid let alone good.
JT has been pretty mid this season, and man I don't know what happened to Petey but he's pretty mid too and for a lot longer. Seems we were destined to be bad, unless they both magically rediscovered their form. Those 2 stopping being elite is to hard to recover from.
I am unsure either way. with Hughes gone is clearly a bot 5 team in talent. Rough start for Foote but seemed to turn things around for a bit, now without Hughes they are awful. I don't think a great coach is getting this team to win games. So it's ok for this season.
Don't think quite that bad and could get better if they actually make rebuilding moves. Keenan years were worse and probably depths of the willy era man those days were bleak too
