AI is not used and passed off as their own work by credible writers. Not a good trend. As a journal editor, I’m seeing more AI used in manuscripts. It’s usually quite obvious and very disappointing.

For the past several years, we’ve been checking every single reference to make sure something like that doesn’t get published. Each DOI is verified. I’ve noticed a lot of nonexistent DOIs lately. Suspect AI generated references.

Neither have I and can’t imagine doing so.
