That's a good way of putting it.

I get enough views it pays for itself -- though only just.
I can appreciate that. Every so often the Twitter algorithm makes a tweet of mine visible to the crazies and my timeline fills with toxic spew.
But if that were a reason, they should say that, rather than vague statements about viewership.
Twitter has messed up algorithms. I tweet the same slop, but some months I get little visibility, and then some months a lot, for no apparent reason.
And back in the day, there were a ton of bots. I don't think you can compare v1 and v2 of Twitter.
You can compare engagement numbers directly:
mastodon.social/@eff/1163756...
x.com/EFF/status/2...
But it's obvious not about reach, but politics.
EFF has always been a weird group of loud progressives and libertarians fighting for mostly libertarian causes.
It seems the left has gotten even louder.
It's hard to take this seriously. Sure, they might be getting fewer views now, but their engagement numbers are still seem on par with BlueSky and Mastadon (slightly less than BlueSky, more than Mastadon).
If it was about reach, drop Mastadon first.
No punch cards, but still, tech from the 1800s.
though of course I'm at the age where kids will ask "What, you wrote code by hand, instead of using an AI? Was that even possible??? why??"

I wonder about history. Historians describe such corruption in the past, where everyone acknowledges now that "yes, it was corruption".
But they fail convey how it wasn't clear to the people at that time.
In general, questions starting with "Hold on..." or "Are you saying..." or "You mean to tell me..." come from ignorance. The more outrage in the framing the question the more you've spun something rather normal.
I wonder about "rhetorical questions" in the age of AI, when you can simply ask the AI the question.
There's nothing particularly interesting happening here, it only sounds interesting, "single Senator can stop legislation" because you haven't had an AI explain why it isn't actually.
Oh, come now, she wasn't "deported".
Her mother was deported. The mother chose to take her child with her rather than leaving the child in the United States with a guardian.
It's a fine stick.
A much-liked post by Germany’s satirical newspaper @der-postillon.com with the titles “Vienna Academy of the Arts offers Trump admission as a student” and the caption “They don’t want to get blamed again“
A joke for the history buffs:

Eric Adams, former NYC mayor, launched a memecoin (cryptocurrency) today. He marketed it as an “NYC Token” and used media appearances and his social media to promote it.
Within hours, Adams then drained its liquidity, apparently having scammed investors out of $3.4 million—a move called a rug pull.

A reminder that while this is a comic book account, comic books are absolutely political because they ALWAYS have been.
Canada knows what it did to deserve it.
Two wrongs don't make a right. You are just making sure Republicans are even worse the time after when they retake power, after people get disgusted with the evils of the Democrats.
Fight for principle, not power.
