We're so relieved to see Germany reaffirm its opposition to the dangerous Chat Control proposal--the one that would mandate mass scanning of communications. Germany's long been a solid champion of privacy, and the news that it was considering backing mass surveillance was alarming. 1/

📣 Germany's close to reversing its opposition to mass surveillance & private message scanning, & backing the Chat Control bill. This could end private comms-& Signal-in the EU.
Time's short and they're counting on obscurity: please let German politicians know how horrifying their reversal would be.

CSDs werden in Deutschland angegriffen – queerfeindlich & gezielt.
Queeres Leben braucht Sichtbarkeit, Schutz & Sicherheit. Im Pride Month und an jedem anderen Tag im Jahr. Dafür setzen wir uns ein. ✊
A crowd at Budapest Pride parade 2015 is shown with pixelated faces, holding rainbow flags and umbrellas. A large surveillance camera graphic hovers over the scene, with a white targeting frame around a person in the crowd. Text in the center reads: '#PrideWithPrid: Ban biometric identification in public places!' followed by the link: 'algorithmwatch.org/sign'.
Facial recognition as allowed by Hungarian laws is a form of mass surveillance⚠️

Big thanks to Misbah Khan for three incredible years as a policy advisor in her office — I’m deeply grateful for everything I‘ve learned during that time, and excited for what lies ahead. 🙌

First, it was bathrooms, then sports, and now they’re getting to what they really wanted — the complete erasure of the trans community.
Also, if you think this is going to stop at trans people, you are deeply mistaken.
The biggest threat to European security does not come from Russia but it comes from the far right within its own nation states. All of the defense spending is not going to protect anyone if Trump's and Putin's buddies are voted into office, they consolidate power and erode liberal democracy 1/
If you think JD Vance's speech at the Munich Security Conference was about free speech, you're not a serious person.

This is not just breaking a taboo on a day where the Bundestag was supposed to remember the Holocaust, it will backfire for the Conservatives as the pandering to the far right has backfired for the Tories in Britain.
A huge victory for the AfD. A dark day for Germany.
Why do people never learn.
Today at 12, the Bundestag remembers the victims of the Nazi regime. Afterwards, the CDU/CSU will put forward resolutions for mass deportations, making German citizenship revocable for the first time since 1945, and the abolition of dual citizenship, and plans to pass these with Nazi votes.
Zuckerberg's 'masculine energy' got its first big win with Trump declaring there are only two genders. This is an agenda that will see laws passed to push gays back into the closet and women back into the kitchen. Our trans siblings are in the front line of this fight, so now more than ever
If you have any questions about the program or the application process, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to share my experience and insights. Together, we can build stronger transatlantic ties and continue the fight for equality. 🇺🇸🇩🇪🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️

Fellowship alert 🚨
With Trump’s 2025 inauguration imminent, transatlantic relations and LGBTQ+ rights face new challenges. Programs like the @amgerinst.bsky.social Fellowship on Building LGBTQ+ Communities are vital for fostering collaboration, sharing strategies, and resisting backlash.
Visiting the US as an @amgerinst.bsky.social fellow this November gave me the opportunity to connect with LGBTQ activists in Florida, witnessing their resilience in the face of the ongoing queerphobic backlash. Mieko Kuramoto & I analyzed anti-queer rhetoric on both sides of the Atlantic ⬇️
