Might as well arrange 'em by font!

...but the past is a slippery f*cker, 'cause I definitely would've owned N.O.'s "Ceremony" before I heard "Moya". It's times like this I could kick myself for not keeping a diary...
Plus the song has a post-punk eeriness that his later stuff didn't. I was still pretty young and probably hadn't heard anything like it at the time? I definitely wanted to hear *more* like it after that...
I've never been a huge Cult fan, but I bought a remaindered copy of this back in '82 'cause I recognised their name from Smash Hits and the (7") sleeve looked so different to everything else in the shop. It ended up being a huge influence and it's still my fave song with Astbury on it...
The decor definitely looks pre '70s to me, but people were still so poor back then it could all quite likely be a hangover from the '50s... it reminds me of my nan's house in the early '70s which hadn't changed (it seemed) for decades.
Wednesday is the new Monday.
My mate and me used to spend ages browsing in Tandy not knowing what 98% of the stuff they sold was for. We were dole-skint and it made a change from record shops and libraries I guess?
Current mood!
Thanks for the reminder @cici6923.bsky.social.
Does it play Yoko Ono when you flush?
I miss those old Tandy shops!
Very smart the way the mirror reflects the wallpaper. I can't imagine what this scene would've looked like in colour.

Those old Computapes were brill, they even used to manufacture C10s if I remember correctly? I used to mess about doing a tape label back in the '80s/90s and chomped my way through loads of 'em...
Fab pics.
Looks like a Dustdevils amp?
Did they play too?
A friend of mind reckons it sounds like Bogshed at 16rpm.
Keep the country moving with production.
A lilting Monday morning ballad.
Bleak beauty. I love it.
And before we know it they'll be chasing shoplifters across Tesco carparks...
Stick Metal Box on and do a discreet runner!
These are terrific! Thanks for sharing...
...er, got any more?
I haven't heard it but I can tell by the sleeve design that I'd probably love it - SOLD!!
I do actually like a bit of Tull nowadays - I own their first half dozen albums. If you'd told me during my '80s goth era that I'd be happily listening to JT forty years later I would've thought you were crazy - but it turns out there's more to life, and music, than Red Lorry Yellow Lorry!
That LSE show was their final gig I think?
My old Sisters, Bauhaus, and Banshees recs got dragged back down from the attic and restored to their rightful place in the (ahem) "listening lounge" a few years ago too... I was mildly embarrassed by that stuff for a while but now I unreservedly love it all again. Middle aged goths, eh? ๐
I didn't realise those alt. Sisters mixes were available again, though it's been so long since I heard them that I can't quite remember how "alt." they actually are!
McCarthy and I Ludicrous - what a pairing!
Sadly I didn't see either of them live, and I was going to gigs all the time back then too... oh well.
Musically I prefer their 3rd to their 2nd, but Malcolm's lyrics are so finely honed on both that I couldn't choose a favourite.
Did you enjoy Herzfeld's stuff too?
Good to see "Bourgeois" placed so high, it would've made a terrific A-side.
Frans Hals too.
I assumed McCarthy were a band whose kudos would increase as time passed, but it's 40 years since I Am A Wallet & they're as neglected as ever. They had so many beautiful melodies, & Malcolm's lyrical gallows humour can still make me LOL. A valuable group, no?
