A screenshot of a RNZ story with the headline "Sharemarkets are still hitting records - and NZ has been left out"
On the left is an AI looking picture of an ecstatic looking old man with whispy white hair and white beard holding an iPad while standing in what appears to be a stock trading room.

Im not sure, but im fairly certain that this picture is AI, which is just fucking amazing.
A story about stockmarkets booming, driven by technology hype, with a picture of a boomer looking like he's remembering an orgasm, but probably doesn't know what the fuck AI is anyway is a bit on the nose.

More than a ‘posh picnic’: Why Sam Neill is right to question the mine OPINION: How have we reached a point where people proudly claiming they've never been to Central Otago are having their say on a new gold mine there.

“Tailings dams are a toxic time bomb that pose one of the greatest risks to their surrounding environment and the people who depend on that environment for their livelihoods.”

Cars and vans bobbing in flood water in an Edwardian suburban street.

Cars and vans bobbing in flood water in an Edwardian suburban street.

"Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer and closer to where you live until you're the one filming it"

Or till the background is the street you grew up in. Hits home.

Solutions are hard, much easier to point out what we already know.

I "could" play for the all blacks.

I "could" retire now and earn enough money entertaining people so I'd never work again.

I "could" invent something that would make so much money that I could give every person in the country $1,000/week.

Impossible is a high hurdle indeed.

I still haven't been there but I knew a bunch of guys who were on that job and I trust that its as strong as a strong thing.

I hold hope that theres a parallel universe where an earth has evolved with humanity and a quirk of evolution has resulted in a matriarchy.
It would be a better place than this reality.

Oh no, much more lowbrow than that, a massive nostalgia hit from one of my favorite childhood books, a couple of musical instruments, an old fashioned game (thats the overspend one) and a replacement for something I broke last week.
I really liked the Frizzell print too.

I ended up buying four lots tonight, my tool auction budget may be burnt. 😁
No regerts on my purchases though.

Yeah, seeing truck sized rocks that fell from somewhere doesn't encourage dallying

Daylight saving probably messed them up.

Yes, but at least we have a Prime Minister laser focused on solutions, aye. Not like he’s distracted by political machinations, a coup being plotted by right wing Scooby Doo villains wielding bed legs and a history of animal abuse. Oh.

Its ok, we are not the smallest fish down here, we can always outbid our pacific cuzzies for the diesel they need to keep the lights on and run hospitals and stuff just so we have plenty of fuel for all the rangers running around our cities doing important things.

Possibly 😅

I got a couple of goodies at that auction, probably paid too much for one of the things, but paid less than I was willing to spend on a different thing, so balance i guess.

Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

Science-folks: If we run 100 experiments, we might find 1 or 2 of them may have results that can make many dollars.

NZ Govt: Excellent. We will fund those 1 or 2 experiments.
