SOHO has a bunch of pedestrianized streets and they're lively. Also visit the gay bars in the area.

i wish all the farmer reps coming out to say no to high speed rail realize they're saying yes to more car-dependent urban sprawl, new highways, and greenfield airports that eat even more farmland *and* cause ridiculous amounts of pollution and ecological damage.

y'know, the primary threat to farms.

Transit hubs are nice I guess but why do I have to walk around the whole thing just to find my bus? Put a map somewhere ffs.

Eliminating libraries in prisons is a disaster, completely shortsighted. Libraries are a lifeline for incarcerated people who want to learn and grow, and have few other options.

ALTO/Cadence have launched an online survey asking about corridor travel and opinions on high speed rail.

It takes a few minutes to complete but there are important topics like “would you prefer downtown or out-of-town stations” and affordable fares:

There are three 30/30A buses from Bramalea to KW within 5 minutes of each other then there is a break of one hour before the next set of buses. I don't understand why we don't have a bus every 20 minutes instead...

The FY 2027 NASA budget request hides its science cuts by omitting mission names instead of explicitly zeroing them out.

We did the work and found 54 missions cancelled in this proposal.

This is another extinction-level event for NASA science.

PM Mark #Carney welcomed an MP into his party who is anti-abortion rights, opposed the ban on gay conversation therapy, against legal cannabis, and in the pandemic spread vaccine misinformation.

What does Carney's Liberals stand for if their 'big tent' includes anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-vax MP?

the taco languaging is especially distasteful when you consider, of course, foremost the 90 million people, but also the stories of the working class in southeast asia and latin america struggling to make ends meet due to the whims of the conflict

it’s all just a parlour game for the west

My hope is that this mission would inspire decision makers to give NASA more finding.

While I'm excited about Artemis II, I'm sad that NASA had to redirect funding from real science programs to do this. They deserved extra funding.

Young Canadians are increasingly miserable. Government priorities show why Governments have not matched the rise in spending on boomers with new revenue from that generation

"This is what systemic ageism against younger Canadians looks like in practice: a pattern of decisions at the cabinet table that no grandparent would make around their family table."

Huh, this API requires you to put a body (not a query string) in a GET request. I thought this was impossible, but turns out it's just unconventional.

The TTC's policy of issuing fines of up to $425 to riders who miss paying their fare (even if it's their first time!) is *not* a model for GO Transit to follow.

The provincial government raising fines on GO Transit is a bad move at a time when Torontonians continue to face an affordability crunch.

The province is proposing to change Metrolinx’s excellent graduated fare evasion fine system, increasing it to $200 for first and $500 for subsequent offences. This makes the penalty overly harsh. Currently fines start at $35, before increasing.
