It'll be hard to break the streak we've had since the constitution was still new

Basically, we haven't elected two consecutive Democrats since 1856. I personally don't count cases where a VP assumed office their first term because the incumbent just has the advantage

We couldn't even to deny Trump

I'm in this boat. Was against Biden in the primary, viewed him as a stick in the mud. The level of miracles he was able to make happen turned me into more of an optimist about how government can work and how the Democrats can govern. Even now that has not changed.

There's a pattern.

2016: 92 million abstaining votes.

2024: 90 million.

I remember other patterns, one happening today is a dramatic uptick of people saying its as hopeless as you are, while shirking accountability by claiming it as their individualist choice.

90 million abstaining votes says Trump has never needed more people to like him to win, and you're still in denial over your role in the 2024 election.

I blocked it for too much false information. Harris has pro-Trans, pro-Palestinian legislation, but only Trump opponents get it for saying one thing and doing another

Like when Biden broke the raikworker strike, but gave them what they wanted after. Yet critics pretended the latter never happened

Definitely doesn't help that people find it difficult to distinguish this and cases where people get ruined for selling jailbroken consoles online,

even though all that misplaced sympathy is easily negated by a quick web search, which often includes reports of innumerable warnings from Nintendo.

It's not even 2028 yet, and people are already gearing up their "it's not enough to not be Trump" and "lesser of two evils" and a new one: "Democrats always attack people who say they're not going to vote"

It seems like sometimes, people are unashamed in disliking accountability the way Trump does

It's ridiculous how people want a perfect moral paragon to thoughtlessly worship the same way MAGA worships Trump, except, you know, "they'll do the right things with all that unmitigated power instead".

Whatever you say. I'll keep Voting Blue No Matter Who for your sake as well as well as my own, especially considering it's the one thing the nation's never tried

2016: 92 million abstaining

2024: 90 million

The last time we elected two consecutive Democrats was 1856

Those are just the numbers

Be careful,

It's not even 2028 yet and people are already getting their "it's not enough to not be Trump" and "lesser of two evils" on.

And a new one I've found is "Democrats always attack people who don't vote". You know, like they hate accountability just like Trump does.

"Democrats always attack people saying they're not going to vote!"

Yeah... just like they attack people for refusing service to gay couples and denying women abortions.

People "on the Left" really do find accountability as repulsive as Trump does.

Democrats attack people choosing not to vote because it always backfires on the entire nation.

2016: 92 million abstaining

2024: 90 million

Out of one side of your mouth, you decare the end of our civilization, out the other, you act like there's no emergency at the prospect of voting Democrat.

I've always voted for parties, and it took until now to realize that no one superhero will save us and make life better, it was always going to take multiple generations of accumulated work to get anywhere.

Some people talk like they want a president just like Trump, but do "the right things"

It's not even 2028 yet, and people are so anxious to get their "it's not enough to not be Trump" and "lesser of two evils" on.

Even foreigners that say they hate him and what he stands for love to endorse him indirectly because negativity and prejudice is so appealing to them.

Note to anybody: stop saying it will take "years" to fix destruction trump and goons are doing. It's self defeating and makes some give up without trying, thinking "what's the use?" With the right teams, smart people, we can and will fix and make better in weeks. This is the U.S. of A. Act like it!

People say "she lost, therefore she was a bad candidate from the start" never realizing how this is Republican-levels of zero-sum game-ing.

Three consecutive moderate Democrats would bring more "socialist" policy to America than "Socialist-version-of-Trump-but-good-because-not-MAGA-but-will-bring-MAGA-like-zeal-to-Progressive-politics-I-bet" no matter how many votes they siphon from the opposition to the Republican candidate.

Fitting, considering that there seems to be so many whose only benchmark for morality is anything that presents itself as an alternative to what they resent.

I once talked to someone who believed that life was better for peasants in medieval Europe because they were "more free".

Social media morality: "The alternative to something I resent MUST be good, moral, and correct"

He's the alternative to mainstream Democrats, that's the only thing he's got, and apparently the only thing he needs.

People haven't learned their lesson since "it's not enough to not be Trump" in 2025.

Definitely doesn't help to deny the good that one party does because biases have led vast parts of the electorate to agree with MAGA that nuance is the enemy.

"Sarcasm and satire don't hurt people. People hurt people!"

I think I just got your point, lol.

And in the process, satire winds up making bad things worse

I can think of multiple examples of satirical media that at some point started actively glorifying that which it originally mocked

But I admit, it isn't satire's fault. It was made for mass appeal, and masses want excuses to be shameless

People all over the feed are loling at this, then when anyone calls them out, suddenly they act like doing so is morally wrong and incorrect because "THIS meme out of the billions of others is the thing that'll stop the shootings forever"

There's a thin line between satire and confirmation bias.

One lousy meme isn't going to do jack except make internet sociopaths like you get upset at anyone pointing out how offensive this is to all the traumatized victims, and increase your instant gratification by framing it as morally wrong and incorrect to sympathize with the victims.

Yes, but I remember the loudest voices:

"It's not enough to not be Trump" "Lesser of two evils"

I knew for a while that he's never needed more people to like him to win. Just a consistent demographic of people with their heads shoved far enough up their own rears to think they know what's best.
