Thank you so much! 🌻
Positively thrilled to have a story in Nat. Brut today. Edited by the incredible @ariel-chu.com who will sharpen your lines to fine point 🔪The story is in such fine company! Though drafted in another year, much is sadly familiar again. www.natbrut.com/lydia-kim

On day one Trump's EO said we were harmful to kids. On day two, it said we were dishonorable and disloyal. On day three, it said we were unAmerican.
Transgender people have been a part of this country for centuries.
We are not going anywhere.
Do not comply with these EOs, they are not law.

Okay, here’s the deal: RIGHT NOW is the time for concrete, direct action.
If you’re following me, it’s probably because you care about trans art and trans literature. The article below lays out my suggestions for dozens of concrete actions you can take to preemptively combat literary censorship.
I think a lot of people have mutual aid confused with charity on here, maybe because folks most often see it in the context of fundraiser asks (which are great!).
I want to talk a little about what it looks like in everyday life.
Because we need it more than ever. Government is getting shredded.

It seems to me that the time is ripe for a Bluesky thread about how—and maybe even why—to befriend crows.

Fuck it. Trans folks need MATERIAL SUPPORT.
@distributeaid.org is launching an HRT Harm Reduction Toolkit that provides 1 year of medical supplies needed to take injection-based HRT. We were planning to go live in January, but I'm not waiting.

Heads up! The @aclu.org Immigrant Rights Project has an EXCELLENT online resource available in multiple languages to walk immigrants or advocates through various scenarios of encounters with immigration officials or police. It includes contact #s for local ACLU offices.

I am so excited for this collection to be in the world! Many thanks to @leemandelo.bsky.social and @dianapho.bsky.social for your editorial work, and of course to @chitawei.bsky.social for your brilliance 🪐✨
Here's a small weird potentially good thing: The USPS website is still, as of a few minutes ago, processing requests under the free covid test program. No idea when that'll be shut down, but it hasn't been yet.
SPREAD INFORMATION, NOT PANIC. When reporting or boosting potential threats: provide as much information as possible! Size/Strength "5 to 6 law enforcement officers" Actions/Activity "harassing random people on the street" Location/Direction "Chicago, West of Millennium Park, on Michigan Ave" Uniform/clothes "Dark Blue uniforms that say 'Police ICE' on the back" Time and date of observation "12:45 PM January 20" Equipment and weapons "They have helmets, vests and batons" Not a useful message: "URGENT!!! Potential ICE Raids on the west side!!!" "Where? When? What are they doing? How Many? What are they carrying?" USE YOUR JUDGEMENT! WE KEEP US SAFE!
If you see ICE activity and want to spread the word, be sure to do it thoughtfully and efficiently. This is a great guide on what to call out.
