Indeed. Complaints about redistricting are invalid. Republicans did it everywhere and invalidated a Constitutional Amendment so they could do it on explicitly racial lines.

There are two choices: use the same levers of power as Republicans do, or let them win. There is no "principled" opposition.

I know we’re not supposed to like the Iranian social media teen meme army seeing us for what we’ve told them we are on the Internet but I like to think this kind of thing is really just them reaching out and saying we don’t like this either and know you’ll appreciate the hilarity

A reminder while Republicans bitch about Dems finishing the redistricting fight they started: they have full control of gov’t— they can pass a law banning gerrymandering any time they want. They won’t. Republicans aren’t mad gerrymandering exists; they’re mad that they’re not the only ones using it.

Ret Logistics guy here. Wrote plans/managed logistics - Western Iraq 2004-2005.

Yes. We are normally great at logistics. Kegseth thinks we are "fluff". He only wants and respects "war fighters".

Our motto: "Amateurs talk tactics. Professionals talk logistics."

Assclowns talked then planned this.

Where J.D. Vance Gets His Weird, Terrifying Techno-Authoritarian Ideas Yes, Peter Thiel was the senator’s benefactor. But they’re both inspired by an obscure software developer who has some truly frightening thoughts about reordering society.

Technocratic, Dark Enlightenment insanity straight from the deranged mind of Curtis Yarvin and coming to fruition via Peter Thiel whose plan for full implementation will come about using Thiel’s most favorite sugar baby, JD Vance.

Because we get asked a lot.

The Technological Republic, in brief.

1. Silicon Valley owes a moral debt to the country that made its rise possible. The engineering elite of Silicon Valley has an affirmative obligation to participate in the defense of the nation.

2. We must rebel against the tyranny of the apps. Is the iPhone our greatest creative if not crowning achievement as a civilization? The object has changed our lives, but it may also now be limiting and constraining our sense of the possible.

3. Free email is not enough. The decadence of a culture or civilization, and indeed its ruling class, will be forgiven only if that culture is capable of delivering economic growth and security for the public.

4. The limits of soft power, of soaring rhetoric alone, have been exposed. The ability of free and democratic societies to prevail requires something more than moral appeal. It requires hard power, and hard power in this century will be built on software.

Palantir put out a 22-point summary of their CEO's book The Technological Republic. It's pitched as a defence of the West, but if you read it through the VDA framework, verification, deliberation, accountability, what it's actually doing looks rather different.

A photo of a tray with three sections empty. One has chopped carrot in it. The other has what can only be described as a posit of brown dog vomit and an insole liner of a sneaker (or a used panty liner from the mid 1700s). The kind of meal that would have you happily tossing yourself overboard.

NEW: Growing fears of food shortages on USS Tripoli & other US ships in the Middle East.

This photo is the kind of meals now being served. It was sent by a sailor to her family.

Families are now trying to send food parcels to the ships.

LOS ANGELES: Please help these kitties Kit & Caboodle. Their owner passed away last week, and I've taken it upon myself to find them a loving forever home. They are GOOD BABIES. Can anyone *LA area only* adopt them? I just don't want them to end up in a kill shelter. Share, RT, ask around... thanks!

There's a good watch on Tubi right now. Monty Python: Almost the Truth (Lawyers Cut) is a 6-part series covering the Pythons' entire career.

Particularly interesting is the one on the making of the Holy Grail. Full of behind the scenes footage, and hilarious insights. Total chaos.

Disappointed, though not surprised, I began to describe various life- saving components of USAID’s global health portfolio, highlighting how we prepare for and respond to emerging pandemic threats; support the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV; and immunize millions of children from the deadliest childhood diseases. I spoke for about five minutes, focusing primarily on our infectious diseases work and hoping to keep the attention of people who seemed to have no experience—or interest—in global health.

When I finished, the room was silent, the political appointees looking at one another in what appeared to be disbelief. The silence was broken by Ken Jackson, who chuckled softly and shook his head. “Wow, there really is so much that USAID does that we never knew,” he said. “This is the story that needs to get out there.”

Joel, also smiling, chimed in next, echoing Jackson’s amazement. “I had no idea you did all this,” he said. “As a Republican, when I think of what USAID does in global health, I assumed it was just, you know, abortions.”
