If we want the UK's economy to start to turn away from financialisation of everything (which exports most of the profits from YOUR spending to the US) - we need to start here.
And then keep pushing.

@mattbishopmp.bsky.social - if you want the government & local government to run efficiently, this is the way to go.
And boot out Teams, while you're at it!
I've not had a problem for a while - I use LibreOffice but many coworkers in the coop are still on Windows, and we share files just fine.
You can "save as" win-formats on libreoffice, although I've not set that as the default because the Libreoffice formats are great.
It is.
I mean you can make it hard if you really want to, but mostly, it's just easy. Start with Mint or Ubuntu & when you're comfortable, maybe try something else.
After a few days you forget it's not windows - until you try to use someone else's machine... and then you curse. A lot.
DENMARK AND FRANCE 🇩🇰🇫🇷 bans all Microsoft products from all public offices.
The phaseout is expected to be completed before autumn 2026.
Their products are being replaced with customer versions of Linux and LibreOffice.
This is digital sovereignty being taken back
Voter ID?
How about Donor ID?
Nobody can spend a dime

Trump told you he’d run America like a business.
He is.
It’s called asset stripping. You sell the profitable pieces, gut the workforce, load it with debt, and walk away rich while everyone else holds the bag.
Congratulations. You didn’t elect a president. You hired a liquidator.
They paused Oversight Committee hearings the minute we started getting answers about the Epstein files.
Now it’s “roundtables”: no rules, no oaths, no subpoenas.
You do the math. Because the moment accountability shows up, they shut it down. The survivors deserve better.
Would be nice to send him back to a mythical past that never existed, wouldn't it?
In the earliest stories (the Mabinogion, probably) lords gained status by giving things away, the more valuable & unique the better, even if it might give their enemies advantages in war.
Ffarij would have hated it.
He is bankrupting our country, just like all his other ventures

Local democracy is crucial!

A mock bingo card, with the options "Beat up a woman", "Upskirting", "Nazi", Assaulted a police officer", Russian bribes", "Offshore tax dodging", "Woke as fuck", "Nonce", "Lying eco zeolot", "Racist", "Batshit crazy", "Conspiracy theorist". You could add "Vaxx denier", "Covid's a lie", "Queen was a fraud" and a few more...
A useful graphic to share around wherever you see a dodgy RefUK candidate:
Really, RefUK's vetting procedures make Starmer look incredibly cautious about who he appoints, don't they?
Not that I like the man - but you have to admit, he's careful compared to Ffarij.
Not a high bar, of course.
Reform UK just can't seem to get their vetting right.
Today, we've rounded up the worst of their Blackburn candidates. One said Oswald Mosley “was right”, another called Enoch Powell “prophetic”, and said Blackburn is “the biggest shithole in the UK”.

Tory Paul Holmes This new clause is crucial and non-partisan, and it would allow us to have a tangible effect on the trust in and integrity of our system. Nobody is bigger or better than the system that we have, but that system can be improved, and we should not be shying away from allowing ourselves to improve it, no matter who is in government, to make sure that every time that a voter walks into a polling station, they know that their vote will be cast in the most secret and best way possible. I hope the Minister will look kindly upon the new clause, although I am sure she will not. I look forward to her remarks in response. Dr Chowns Sharethis specific contribution Ballot secrecy is extremely important. The shadow Minister has talked about family voting. I am deeply disappointed and concerned by the implicitly discriminatory accusations made by some parties in relation to family voting in recent weeks. I wish we saw as much passion about the far greater threat to our democracy posed by the skewing effect of huge donations. Conservative members of the Committee made no contribution in the discussion on caps on donations or limits on expenditure earlier this afternoon, but have devoted considerable airtime to this particular topic. I ask all of us to consider: what is the greatest threat to the integrity of our political system?
Green MP Ellie Chowns in latest debate on Rep of the People Bill: "I am deeply disappointed & concerned by implicitly discriminatory accusations made by some parties in relation to family voting in recent weeks...
"Conservative members...made no contribution in the discussion on caps on donations."
If you want to see devolved government in the UK working efficiently, you have to get rid of the Internal Markets Act.

🔴 Britain’s Solar Revolution Is Here and We Should Be Shouting It From the Rooftops
Ed Miliband is helping to turn the country into a nation of ‘solar zealots’ and I'm enthusiastically along for the ride. Thankfully I'm not alone.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think Jeffrey Epstein's clients should be the ones to decide if Jeffrey Epstein's clients should be prosecuted.
@mattbishopmp.bsky.social - given how much fossil fuel co's are making from the Iran situation, I'm sure they would very much like to stop the windfall taxes.
That's how their lobbyists earn their keep.
If they get away with it, when the profit numbers are published, the Labour party will be toast.
Given the profits energy cos are making from the Iran situation, this is a joke, surely?

If you're looking at going for some extra renewables / battery power, keep watching what the enthusiastic amateurs say.
You can get some great advice.
You still need to test it, but then you would do the same for professional advice, wouldn't you?
Can we add
A fill of politicians
?
Seems like the Aussies are getting robbed by fossil fuel co's too.
Their lobbyists throw money around like confetti - because they want to keep their privileges.
