As some of you may know, the MEMEZINE team lost one of our own last Wednesday: our talented video artist (and most importantly, our dear friend) Benji Cardenas. Benji was deeply creative, funny, and always kind. He loved his friends. He had immaculate taste in music and film. He was an artist. Not only did we work together on MEMEZINE projects (like covers for “weird little guys” and “KAKISTOCRACY”), but we also worked together on personal projects as well. His art was special to us. He was punk as fuck. He was real. We are processing and grieving the loss of Benji. As a result, Rachel and I have decided to close general submissions on Wednesday, July 16th. We will quickly work through these submissions and then take a month or two off. Accepted features will be published on schedule. And don’t worry, this isn’t goodbye by any means. We still have things planned, things that Benji wanted to show you. All we ask is that you tell your friends how much they mean to you. Make stuff together. Check in. Be there. Stay radical.
