Lior's closest label would be lesbian. Oaklin's closest label would be "stressed" but bisexual or queer would also be fine.

Any questions about this cozy fantasy or its characters? Just DM me! Hit www.mkengland.com/links for links to Edelweiss or to preorder. 💜

IDENTITY QUESTIONS: I've gotten a few questions for the purposes of "most anticipated" lists and thought I'd answer publicly. My main character, Oaklin (they/them), is nonbinary/agender, and their love interest, Lior (she/her), is female. The label "sapphic" is okay for these two. (cont. below)

The cover of a book sits on a textured purple background. The cover is largely blocked by large black bars, though bits of leaves, crystals, mushrooms, a cabin, and a dog peek out. The name Autumn K. England sits at the bottom. Inside the black bars is the text: "Now on Edelweiss! Cover reveal 1/10/26"

FIELD GUIDE FOR THE FORMERLY VILLAINOUS is available to read for the first time ever and I am so hyped! I love this cozy, cottagequeer D&D-meets-Stardew Valley book more than anything I've ever written. If you don't have an Edelweiss account, don't worry, it'll be coming to NetGalley in January.

I have a story in this one! I hope you'll pick up a copy and check it out. A wonderful collection of stories overall, written with so much love for TTRPGs and queerness.

On a blue to green gradient background, green text reads "Preorder Campaign" with the book cover for Dead & Breakfast (Two men stand in the foreground. On the left, a white man with graying hair wearing a suit and tie holds a cup of coffee. On the right, a shorter man with long dark hair, pale skin, and a ruffly cravat holds a goblet of blood with a silky straw. They both have vampire fangs. Behind them is a field of flowers and a large house with a cat perched on a sign that says “welcome. Over the top is the title “DEAD & BREAKFAST” the tagline “come for the vampires stay for the scones” and the byline “Kat Hillis & Rosiee Thor”) beneath. An orange and black bumper sticker says "COEXIST" with occult and paranormal iconography instead of religious symbols, and a die cut sticker says "The Dead & Breakfast" with a stack of pancakes and a stake through the middle. Beneath, text reads "Invite these vampires into your home via Always Here Bookstore before October 22nd to receive a signed copy and swag"

Book cover for This is How We Roll: A foursome of players surround a table. The DM with light brown skin and hair in a bun holds a d20 between her fingers and sits in a wheelchair. The players are a white gender nonconforming person with two toned hair and a mug that says dice goblin, a dark skinned girl with hoop earrings looking flirtatiously at the DM, and a boy with dark hair and gold hued skin wearing a sweat band in the colors of the trans flag. Above them, a large speech bubble depicts their characters: a firbolg with a dagger and bow, a blue skinned trifling in a purple dress, and a green skinned half-orc wearing heavy armor.

The Best Romance Novels of the Year So Far

In lighter fare, it’s time for the Best Romances of 2025 (So Far), as chosen by me, one human with limited time and too much stress who is obviously objectively right about everything all the time, no YOU shut up. #RomanceColumn

Throwback to that time I got my very first book review in the NYT for my adult romance debut ALL FIRED UP and it was glowing and I cried a lot 😭

Also: Social media hiatus until 2026. If you want to hear from me, I send infrequent newsletters and reply to comments there! mkengland.com/newsletter

Thank you so much for this incredible review of AFU! This was my first ever NYT review and to have it be THIS GEM? It's the best feeling in the world when someone just *gets* what you're trying to do and say with a book. Genuine feelings overflow. Deeply appreciate it.

Happy release day @mkengland.bsky.social! This book was funny, romantic, sapphic and smart 🫶

Just in case: The event tomorrow is at 6pm, not 6:30! I had the time wrong in a few places 😭

Hey folks, I'm so sorry for the confusion: Tomorrow's event at Fountain Bookstore is at 6pm, NOT 6:30! I hope to see you there. RSVP at the link below:

I wrote Pride Puppy and @whatwouldjuliedraw.bsky.social illustrated. We know exactly what it does (and does not!) include. So when Neil Gorsuch started talking about bondage and sex work, while claiming he'd read our book, we knew he was lying. Thanks to @jaywillis.net for this incredible piece.

In a welcome counterbalance to the relentlessly depressing news cycle, my #fridayreads is Roll for Love by @mkengland.bsky.social. It's a charming, queer love story about celebrating nerdy joy, figuring out your place in the world, and finding your community.

I believe 'zon has a requirement that you've spent some amount of money with them in the past year or something? Or if they suspect you know me/the publisher/etc then they will reject your review.

Thank you so much for a wonderful ROLL FOR LOVE launch week, everyone! If you've reviewed the book on storygraph/GR, I would so appreciate it if you could move that review over to retailers. People (rightly!) need proof that a book doesn't suck before laying their hard-earned dollars down for it. 💜
