6 years ago, some amateur drug manufacturers stole my work van. When they got caught, they told the cops I was a part of their "business". Cops interrogated me for hours, trying to get me to admit to running a drug ring. So fun.

Transitioning has never been a cure-all. If you were depressed for a reason that didn't have to do with dysphoria, fixing the dysphoria will not fix that. Further, a lot of trans people are depressed because, frankly, people like you try to tell us how to exist. Or they're alienated by family.

Identifying as another gender has not been considered to be a mental illness since the publishing of the DSM-V in 2013. Gender dysphoria is related to the physical and/or societal distress experienced by a trans person, not the identity.

The recommended resolution for dysphoria is transition.
