I spent the day researching how to min/max outside time but got distracted when bluesky came back online. Oh well I feel very prepared for the next outage.

And well, no login means faster adoption. That's the logic at least.
Labeler looks like it was a temporary outage. We didn't want this data to live entirely on our servers. We did consider saving this data to a users PDS and we still might go this route, but that requires users to sign in and labelers do not.
Which means our command system doesn't require login
...that answers your question :)
...to keep labeler support. Our system doesn't require it. We just wanted third party tools and apps others build an easy way to lookup a users location. We want this to be useful to other developers. All location info is also stored in our database anyway.
I could go on if ya' want lol but I hope
The labels are all undeclared. You can see them on clearsky though but labelers only allow so many declared labels and we would far exceed that.
I did create a single declared label "ATlas User" but we're having labeler issues so right new labels aren't working. We will backfill if we decide...
Bluesky doesn't allow us to consolidate. If I could offer U+ Live, Trending, Video, and FYP as a single feed that could be sorted & filtered I would.
This feed didn't replace any existing versions of U+, it's in addition to.
FYP is short, sweet and identifiable by most folks. Long feed names are bad.
I'm trying to provide more value to readers. If you see no value in this feed I suggest choosing an existing feed.
🔥feedback is welcome too

My kid got run over by a drunk neighbor in his pickup in 2017. She was riding her bike ON THE SIDEWALK when he backed out of his driveway at 50 MPH and went right over the top of her.
I support bike infrastructure.
Instead of creating Attie, bsky should have created a minimal feed builder in app that introduces users to making feeds as a gateway to third parties. Become the funnel.
Or they could have just given them the fucking money /end
Attie is not a third party product. And it could become the de facto feed building experience which makes its reliance on AI so concerning.
But if we're being honest, even if Attie weren't AI driven, this is still a major issue. Again, Attie threatens third parties existance. 7
I mentioned my main issue isn't AI, and it's not, or at least not by itself. I'm not against LLMs in certain contexts (detecting CP, or other nefarious stuff is a massive net positive) and having certain LLMs as optional features is OK.
If attie were a third party AI driven product, fine. But... 6
Not all third party feed platforms are created equal. But with choices we can choose the one that aligns with out skills, needs, and morals. If attie threatens their existance, we're all left with blueskys vision of what's possible. And that's AI. Should AI be the default? Yeah this is the problem 5
All of the platforms I mentioned above recently formed a joint venture to attempt to keep the lights on. It's tough out there. And Attie has the power to make it difficult for any third party feed building platform to survive, let alone thrive. I see Attie as a direct threat to diversity & choice. 4
Now, lets talk AI. I think LLMs can be useful for certain things. But it's a major concern when bluesky launches a platform driven exclusively by AI, as a first party product it could become the de facto feed building platform, locking most feeds into being AI driven. This won't feel optional. 3
I believe this would drive new users to @graze.social @skyfeed.app @blueskyfeedcreator.com when users outgrow the first party feed builder. That is what Attie should have been.
But instead, Bluesky is seemingly trying to compete directly with the third party platforms that make bluesky great. 2
Yes, bluesky has discover. I'm ok with this. It gives new users a better experience and ultimately helps grow the ecosystem. And I'd be ok if bluesky had a streamlined simple feed builder to introduce users to building feeds as a gateway to other more advanced platforms. 1
RE: @attie.ai
This sucks. And I don't mean the actual product--I haven't used it. My main concern isn't AI (though I'll get to that)
Bluesky should not run a feed building platform. We should decouple, as much as possible, the social platform from the algorithms they run on. 🧵
@graze.social @skyfeed.app @blueskyfeedcreator.com
And I want thank you all for the work you all have done helping us all make our ideas possible.
I hope the future allows third party feed platforms like these to thrive. All these platforms brings unique solutions to feed building and I love that.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE. Feed platforms need your help today.
Server costs are high and prices are rising. If you enjoy custom feeds like Urbanism+ then please donate. These services are what powers your favorite feeds and their futures are being threatened.
Or donate because you hate Attie 🔥
Adding a Portland Urbanism feed.

This is a simple mashup of @fema.monster excellent Urbanism+ custom node and my Portland Ore custom node.
et voila!
Thanks @graze.social!

Sadly, a driver kills a pedestrian every 72 minutes in this country. So, it’s very important to stay alert while driving, stop for pedestrians at crosswalks, & don’t assume pedestrians only cross at crosswalks.
It's also very important to have a DOT that uses Safe Systems instead of Victim Blaming.
Thank you! What to do next:
1. Ban right turn on red
2. Stripe crosswalks on all sides of intersections
3. Eliminate slip lanes
4. Narrow lanes to reduce design speeds
5. Install raised crosswalks and bulb outs
6. Additional traffic calming near schools, parks and businesses like speed humps
Forgive me for the feed settings page. It's not awful and some organization went into it, but I know it's not great. But the features are really really cool. We'll circle back to the layout after we get more settings and features built :)
