i cannot adequately answer questions you yourself could not understand enough to ask on your own! i now have to translate machine-generated gobbledygook to someone who already does not understand what’s being discussed! there is instant distrust when i explain that the questions are inappropriate.

but people are using chatgpt for everything, not just one narrow scope. in my own specific interaction with it on a professional level, i cannot even begin to explain how frustrating it is to have someone bring in a list of question they asked chatgpt to supply for their doctor’s appointment.

so far, shazam has only ever positioned itself as the “we figure out the name of that song for you” app. you know exactly what you’re getting with it. they’ve tweaked the app and of course they’re constantly growing their database as music new and old is catalogued, but the basic purpose is the same

plus, i can immediately verify whether shazam got it right or wrong by *listening to the song*

the only time i’ve seen shazam get something wrong was when it misattributed a cover version of a song to the wrong artist

shazam and chatgpt may seem, to the layperson, to work on the same level of technological magic (“i ask it a question and it automatically gives me the answer”) but only shazam is honest enough to regularly respond with “i’ve no fucking clue about that one, my guy”
