Frederick Douglass, July 5, 1852: “your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade, and solemnity, are, to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy — a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages.”
Frederick Douglass, July 5, 1852: “your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciations of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery;”
Frederick Douglass, July 5, 1852: “What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham;”
My prayers are with President Joe Biden, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and their family. God bless President Joe Biden and his family. President Biden is a fighter. Fight on, Joe. Much love to him, Jill and their entire family.
Donald Trump is petulant and petty.

“The move comes after Mr. Trump had already announced last month that he was revoking former President Joe Biden's security clearance.”
Donald Trump is petulant and petty.

“Trump on Friday night rescinded the security clearances of former Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, several members of the Biden administration, and other prominent Democrats.”
“WASHINGTON, March 21 (Reuters) - Donald Trump's administration will revoke the temporary legal status of 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans in the United States, according to a Federal Register notice on Friday, the latest expansion of his crackdown on immigration.”
“A section of the Arlington National Cemetery website dedicated to World War 2 veteran & civil rights leader Medgar Evers has been removed following Donald Trump's purge of "DEI" from the federal government.”
“At the same time, the anger we’re seeing among white Americans, as they begin to lose the supports, jobs and benefits that some who voted for Trump presumably thought would only be ripped away from Black and brown people, is palpable…”
“What’s change in recent years is that the resentment today isn’t just against Black people (and undocumented immigrants, whose own Latino communities can clearly be flipped against them, through the belief that their proximity to whiteness will protect them and their families from ICE)…”
“Whiteness has been the most powerful invention in the history of the Western world. Once it existed…a certain percentage of people who claimed whiteness or had it (or proximity to it) bestowed on them, could almost instantly be induced to vote against even their own benefits…”
“The Defense Department removed and then restored a webpage recognizing the military career of sports legend Jackie Robinson amid a purge of diversity, equity, and inclusion content from across the department's social media and websites.”
Yesterday, Joy Reid told Don Lemon on The Don Lemon Show that she’s going to be on YouTube and I love it. I would most definitely watch her show daily.
100%.
Angela Rye to Kevin O’Leary: “I don’t want you to touch me. That’s my personal space.”
He should not have touched her in the first place. I’m glad #AngelaRye let him know.
“Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday directing Education Secretary Linda McMahon to start dismantling the Department of Education.
…
Congressional approval would be needed to fully abolish the department.”
“Schumer clearly has convinced himself that he did the right thing by the federal government … or maybe just his and Kirsten Gillibrand’s Wall Street donors … but clearly all he has really done is unify various factions of the Democratic Party, inside and outside of Washington, against him.”
“Pointedly, Schumer’s fellow Brooklynite, Rep. Jeffries, refused to throw a lifeline, responding to a reporter’s shouted question of whether there should be new Senate leadership with a clipped two word answer: “next question.””
“Defying nearly unanimous House Democrats, led by their leader, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Schumer led 8…Democratic Senators + independent Angus King to break his own party’s filibuster of the House-passed continuing resolution to fund the government through September, clearing the way for its passage.”
No excuses.
Stop capitulating, kowtowing and giving up the power that you have. Don’t obey in advance. Elected officials represent us and our interests and we want Dems to fight and get in some good trouble.
I don’t expect anything good from Republicans but I expect Democrats to fight fascism & autocracy at all times. I’m so disappointed in some of our Democratic elected officials that have no fight, no courage & no strength. Some have abdicated their responsibilities & are failing to meet the moment.
💯
An absolute shame.
“…Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Angus King, a Maine independent who caucuses with Democrats. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the sole Republican to oppose advancing the measure and he voted against it on final passage. Shaheen and King voted in favor of final passage.”

“The Senate passed the bill in a 54 to 46 vote, with one Republican opposing it and two Democrats supporting it after 10 Democrats provided the votes earlier Friday to advance the measure through a key procedural hurdle. The funding bill now heads to President Trump's desk for his signature.”
Senator Cory Booker is voting NO on the “CR”.
