Secret Garden - Series 1: 1. Oxfordshire David Attenborough reveals the lives of kingfishers, otters and other animals whose home is a river garden. Life here seems idyllic, but all are at the mercy of seasonal floods.

Watch the latest Attenborough documentary on BBC iPlayer – hidden between the beautiful shots and the interesting animal life are little tips on how to be of service to nature

You can't just decide to close us bases overnight. Threatening to do so is the kind of thing Trump would do. Thankfully he's not going to that level. UK-US relationship will still be there after Trump leaves office

Man, I feel smug owning an EV right now. I shouldn't, but I do.

What I meant was, if a lower standing charge were imposed by the regulator, it would be fairer between providers, and comparing them would be easy. If Octopus were to charge lower standing charges now, which it is free to do on any of its tariffs, it would have to offset that with a higher unit rate

A change to standing charges would have to come from the regulator

If Octopus would lower the standing charge, they would have to put up the unit tariff which would possibly make them appear more expensive in comparison sites.
A while back there was a supplier with zero standing charges and they went bust, probably due to more complex reasons.

Marginal pricing was recently under review and they chose to keep it unchanged. Just saying...

It's always the animals that have to adapt/change, and never the humans.
How about imposing harsh fines in specific areas so that drivers change instead.
How distracted can a driver be to not see an animal that usually lays still, frightened on the road?

I use these and they work great.
When we get an open API to access the Find My network, it will be truly useful.

Old discoloured thermostat on a wall

This is so lazy of them. If you don't want to support them, then open source the code so people can create their own control servers with something like @home-assistant.io

The Octopus Go tariff might seem cheaper but it's for fewer each day. The Cosy is really the one to go for if you have a heat pump, I think.
Though Agile could work too, but it would be very unpredictable

Cosy rate (04:00 - 07:00, 13:00 - 16:00 & 22:00 - 00:00)

No, please don't. That's private.
It was your comparison to a four bedroom house that made me a bit skeptical about your claim. It's not the bedrooms that use electricity, it's the people, so referring to number of bedrooms is irrelevant, I think.
But sounds like you properly diagnosed this.

Ok, sounds like reasonable steps to take to diagnose.
Just a thought: could it be a garage or annexe that might have a separate circuit from the meter. I also heard stories of electricians mixing the wires of neighbours in terraced houses. It's very odd a meter would keep ticking without any load.
