Another view of the Woodchat Shrike at Pagham on Saturday. For once it left the field side hedgerows and perched by the central scrape catching food around it.

Black-throated Diver, 22nd April 2026
Merlin, 22nd April 2026
Collared Dove, 22nd April 2026
Sensory overload at the Bill tip this morning what with there still being c8000 gulls offshore; passing seabirds poor with a single BtDiver the best for us. Lots of inbound vismig, mainly Swallows but multiples of Swift & Yellow Wagtail + single Merlin; weary Collared Dove in off.
typical pom then! nothing else and then out of nowhere...! nicely done on getting it, never easy on a solo watch

745 Bar-tailed Godwits and 70 Whimbrel flew east past the seawatching hide this afternoon once the wind had swung round a bit. Hopefully the forecasted north-easterly winds during the next week will bring some more offshore passage. Why not come and join us by staying at the Observatory?
