Bald Eagles: “The Best Motherf***ing Bird There Is” – Eugene Eric Kim

I saw three bald eagles this past weekend. It was awesome. That is all. eekim.com/2026/03/bald...

Interviewing high school students for admissions to my alma mater, I'm struck by how dishonest one is required to be these days in order to comply with the law. In all seriousness, kudos to our admissions department for preparing us for this.

Nine years ago, I found myself hiking through a Kentucky forest foraging for ginseng with my elderly mom. It was a profound experience, and it got me thinking about the tension between self-reliance and interdependence. fasterthan20.com/2025/11/fora...

Jays join Dodgers in wearing Vesia's '51' on caps Blue Jays relievers have started wearing Alex Vesia's No. 51 on the side of their caps in honor of the Dodgers reliever who is away from the team because of a "deeply personal family matter."

The Antichrist Is Evil, But at Least He’s No Tech Bro | Connecting California | Zócalo Public Square I admit I can be pretty scary. But I’m nowhere near as frightening as Peter Thiel. Which may be why the dark lord of Silicon Valley has been targeting me,

"I may be a Satan-empowered beast with 10 horns and seven heads. I may rise from the sea, take over the world, charismatically criticize God and Christ, persecute believers, and inspire people to tattoo '666' on themselves.

Look, Ma! AI Can Program! – Eugene Eric Kim

I collected some more musings here. eekim.com/2025/10/look...

On a related note, I'm also intrigued by the potential for AI to replace traditional strategy consultants, as @jamescham.bsky.social has been talking about for as long as I can remember (even before GPT-3).

Bitter lesson - Wikipedia

My guess is that an experienced engineer could have produced this simple, non-production quality app in about the same amount of time (an hour), but it would be at least an order of magnitude more expensive. There are clearly tradeoffs, but I wonder when the Bitter Lesson comes into play here.

I haven't played with Context Engineering or vibe coding, so it was interesting to get to watch this. I've been enjoying what @jonudell.bsky.social, @lmorchard.com, Harper Reed, and others have been saying on these topics, though.

My friend, William, created a screencast of him using AI to write an app. That app happens to be for one of my collaboration workouts! www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJBt...

I agree! I've just started working through episodes, and I thought @rabble.nz's interview with @yoyoel.com was particularly good.

"Faith, it turns out, is also a muscle. I remember why I’m doing my work.... I want people to understand that taking time to make small things — however trivial they might seem — builds our muscles, our faith, our resilience. All of these things are what make big visions possible."

Week 27 July 21-25, 2028 - dinner parties at the end of the world

@lizneeley.bsky.social's Meeting the Moment missives are always good, but this week's was particularly resonant. Make sense of things with your people, preferably over good food. Talk through potentially difficult decisions and other things that worry you. Do it in small doses. This is the work.

House Republican Reconciliation Bill Would Harm Rural Households, Communities, and Economies | Center on Budget and Policy Priorities The bill continues the pattern under this Administration of hurting the people the President pledged to help.

I have a new piece out about how the House reconciliation bill will harm rural households.

Not only will it rural folks lose health coverage & food access, hospitals are more likely to close and businesses will struggle.

All for a tax cut skewed towards the wealthy.
