🚨 Super excited to share my new paper in CEP on precursors of students' cost perceptions with @pnbeymer.bsky.social and @emilyqr.bsky.social! We found that weekly perceptions of belonging and reported use of SRL lowered cost perceptions the following week. Read it here for free for 50 days!
Yes, I’m sure that’s also true! I wonder if the virtual component will resurface. It’s definitely a bit of no-win situation.
I totally agree with the sentiment behind this, though I think we’d lose out on a lot of students (in particular) attending! Most people I know who are on visas (and even green cards) right now are afraid to travel internationally :/
Appreciate you taking the time to share this :) As a new faculty member who was looking at MSI grant opportunities, it’s hard to know where to start. But I’m with you on continuing the work however we can!

Thanks, Destiny! Hope you are doing well :)
📢Excited to share our new article on #achievementgoals and #costperceptions in #STEM. Results suggest that the combination of performance-avoidance goals and high cost perceptions may be particularly harmful for students. Check it out!

The CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey has monitored the wellbeing of America’s high school students since 1991.
Since 2015, it’s been a vital source of data on LGBQ youth. In 2023, it provided the first ever nationally representative sample of transgender teens.
As of this morning, it’s gone.
🚨 Data.gov appears to be dropping datasets 🚨
Almost 2,300 datasets have disappeared since Jan 21.
Data scrubbing at this rate is concerning- download and archive what you think you’ll need.

So, is there any point in me applying for a seed grant that was meant to support an MSI-related grant down the line? Genuinely uncertain as to how to proceed as an ECR…. #HSI #ECR @academic-chatter.bsky.social

It’s official, my first semester of being a professor - including entering grades - is in the books! Now to turn to the 8 million research tasks that have somehow all ended up being due during winter break…😩
But then the waiting! I have a love/hate relationship with journals that display all this info
I’m thrilled to (belatedly) announce: 1) that I will be joining the University of Northern Colorado as an Assistant Professor in Psychological Sciences - Educational Psychology for Fall 2024! 2) I had a baby! She won’t be appearing on here, but she’s lovely & we’re so excited to have her :)
Very, very true :)
It’s definitely a hard time of year to keep going! I went right from prepping for one finalist interview immediately into another over Thanksgiving, too, so it’s been a lot, for sure. I so appreciate the encouragement, though! Having support throughout all of this definitely helps!
