Rukia is an absolute badass, she's one of my favorite shounen leads.

The manga for sure, Studio Pierrot changed so much. Though I do recommend the Thousand Year Blood War anime adaption over the manga arc, it's been very faithful and added what Kubo wanted to originally do at the end of his run.

It's an absolute nightmare! if you look into it, this actually happened with Naruto as well, with Studio Pierrot, the same studio who did Bleach. They made Sakura more annoying, changed her scenes; in turn, in Bleach, they ship-teased Rukia with Ichigo and deleted or changed Orihime's scenes.

People are of course allowed to draw their own interpretations from the work, but when the well is poisoned, it's fair for an author to defend their creative decisions. That's all I have to say, anyhow.

I feel it's appropriate here due to the lengths the anime directors went to in order to promote Rukia's relationship with Ichigo, which was not Kubo's original intent in his manga. The fans therefore said they 'knew' better than him, despite his original intentions being far from it.

people genuinely went insane and hated him and attacked him because they felt he was wrong and that rukia and ichigo should have been together. they questioned his own creative process and choices and told him it was wrong. that's why he's so firm here about it.

i am normally a lurker but just so you know, this message from him was in response to fans harassing him about ichigo and rukia not being the ship at the end of the series. this wasn't in response to critique of a plot point or plot choice, just... the fact that ichigo married orihime. that's it lol
