he kicked me on our first date

tonight was officially one of the worst nights and dates of my entire life. i made the stupid decision to go to a guys' place the night of our first date and ultimately paid the price.

we were sitting on his couch watching the television and i mentioned i didn't want to do anything sexual because he was alluding to it by saying things like how he hadn't been laid in months and he wished i could help satisfy the urge. once it became apparent to him that wasn't going to have sex with him, he then proceeded to move further away from me and began sulking on the opposite side of the couch. shortly thereafter he lifted his legs up and kicked me, pushing me all the way towards the edge of the couch. he murmured something to the effect of "i'm doing you a favor" so i finally got up and left.

i spent the whole 30 minute car ride bawling my eyes out. i was terrified, i felt like an idiot, i was in shock. i'm still reeling over the whole situation. i'm so tired o

First , never go to anyone's place on the first date, second the fact he kicked her and called it a "favor" means he wanted to and would be more violent.

Thank goodness she got out.

Your article about AI doesn’t need AI art Should we be mad about David Szauder’s New Yorker illustration?

Human artists have designed creative parodies of AI slop, but AI lacks the necessary self-awareness to parody itself, even with a human behind the wheel.

There's a metal band called Glyph that kicked out their lead singer when they found out he was beating his now ex-wife. That same ex-wife is now the lead singer of Glyph. I think a lot of men could learn from their example.

I can see why some people might have gotten excited about LLMs, and these people are victims of a con. The only ethical way for this technology to be sold — and that’s assuming environmental and intellectual property issues were solved too — was to exclusively offer it through the API, at rates that reflected the ultimate cost of serving its users. Selling access to LLMs via heavily-subsidized subscription was a mistake.

Sadly, too many people in the Valley are intellectually stunted by years of hypergrowth, believing that any business idea that they like should get license to burn as much money as they want if there’s even a shred of a chance that they’ll reach “scale.”

While they were conned by Sam Altman, they were also conned by the larger Valley mantras of “fake it til you make it” and “grow until you scale then jack up the prices,” ideas that have only worked a few times and have failed thousands more. I also believe they wanted to be conned — to be told what to think, told what to invest in, told what to be excited about, and told how to feel about a world growing increasingly-tolerant of well-moneyed and demanding elites that LARP as disruptive garage-dwelling coders.

Every con has an expiry date, and Altman clearly sees OpenAI's approaching at high speed. Years of hypergrowth and worshipping venture have created a culture of wish-casting that rationalizes waste and empowers con artists at scale. It's a disgrace.

Why high oil prices are good for oil companies — until they aren't Yes, higher crude oil prices mean a multibillion-dollar cash infusion to the oil industry. But volatility is bad for business, and sustained high prices come with very serious drawbacks.

Jubilant return of Artemis II shadowed by ‘extinction-level’ cuts to Nasa: ‘It’s discordant’ Even as a triumphant moon flyby primes agency for a 2028 landing, Trump’s proposed budget cuts cast pall on US space program The astronauts on board Artemis II were “almost poets”, Nasa’s administrator, Jared Isaacman, declared on Friday, referring to their inspiring words as they swung above the lunar surface. They were, he said, “ambassadors for humanity” as they became the first humans to travel to the moon and return safely to Earth since 1972, on a mission that broke a distance record. Despite Apocalyptic Warnings, California Fast Food Wage Hike Didn’t Kill Jobs UC Berkeley study finds employment held steady — and only pennies were added to menu prices.

So it turns out paying people a living wage doesn’t collapse the economy; it’s almost like the rich have been lying to us to maintain their power over our lives.

The richest 1% will get $117 billion in tax cuts this year, thanks to Trump.

That’s more than the combined budgets of eight federal agencies, including the Department of Education and the EPA.

Meanwhile, the bottom 95% will see their taxes increase.

It’s clear who he governs for.

Pete Hegseth is a disaster of a defense secretary. It’s no surprise | Margaret Sullivan The former Fox host has misled the public, prayed for violence and clashed with the press. This is not a serious military leader

"With his bloodthirsty utterances, his fierce loyalty to Trump and his appalling inability to manage this huge moment in world history, Hegseth is every bit the disaster that anybody sensible could have seen coming," writes @sulliview.bsky.social.

Everytime there's talk about #joshi & #AEW crossover events I think about my "Forbidden Dream" idea of an all #Stardom vs AEW event. I have struggled a bit to find AEW wrestlers to complete the best card, but I found ways to make it work. Which updates of my card would you expect in '26?

1)Republicans lost the popular vote in 7 of last 9 presidential elections

2)more than 2/3 of Americans had not even been born yet the last time the Court had a majority appointed by Dem. president.

The Post left these 2 points out of this #scotus story.
