My latest story for @desmog.com inside the Heartland Institute’s two-day climate denialism conference:
Major cracks are emerging between climate denialists and MAHA, with fossil fuel allies calling RFK Jr. and his movement a “left-wing op.”

ok well then the brand is even stupider than i thought!!
i'm just reporting complaints i've seen by slower runners who have done the boston marathon! not personal experience
sure there's the qualifying times but there's also opportunities to get in by fundraising for a charity. that's how slower runners doing all the world majors get in? so it's not just about how hard it is to get in on time but also breaking down aid station early, crowds not staying to cheer...
of course, everyone has a camera in their pocket so it was incredibly stupid of nike to think what we say in boston stays in boston
boston is famously one of the least-friendly-to-slow-runners marathons out there, according to other slow runners on the internet
my opinion on the controversial nike sign at the boston marathon is that it's a bad look for the brand but they thought they could get away with it in boston because walkers ARE barely tolerated there
oh if you find out can you lmk?
"[...] if the [National] Forest loses the research station, they’re also losing that information about how best to do their management."
"And problems in the forest don’t stay in the forest."
#PublicLands research and management are for the public good, and cutting them will cost us.
WHAT
Washington is right to demand strong non-proliferation guarantees from Iran. But it must treat the institutions that make these guarantees credible as something more than disposable tools, Olamide Samuel (@olamidediy.bsky.social) writes.

love a self aware king
i do however love how ozzy immediately bowed to cirie's superior strategizing and said thank god you came back i would've done something really stupid without you #survivor
ughhh rizzo shouldn't have told joe and he should've known not to tell joe because he's one of the stupid four horsemen #survivor

anyone know how to make zoom stop offering the note taking every time i join or start a meeting?? i can take my own notes THANSK
ages ago i wrote (i think i wrote?) about a citizen science platform that asks people to record these very observations...i think it was run by local public radio stations?? need to find out what happened with that
Weather and the war Articles on high-risk US military options often refer to (a) strike forces to seize Iranian enriched uranium supplies, (b) seizing Kharg Island or (c) seizing Qeshm Island, which at 1,500 sq km is larger than Okinawa and Iwo Jima where some of the fiercest battles of WWII were fought. The Gulf also has unique weather attributes which may preclude these options as the region heats up over the next couple of months given potential damage to equipment and troops. For example: in June as peak temperatures reach 126⁰ F, exposed metal temperatures can reach 160⁰F and vehicle interiors can reach 176⁰ F. These dynamics may explain why the Trump Administration is reportedly looking for a near-term exit and letting the rest of the world figure out what to do about the Strait. No
Hopefully ground invasion of Iran won't happen at this point but if it does, soldiers will be facing insanely hot temperatures
“Everybody’s using AI for everything nowadays, and if you don’t, you’re a misfit outsider who should be stoned to death in the town square, and then resurrected virtually from your data so you can be stoned to death in the virtual town square, for infinity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/04/15/o...
“The reason why I love these Forest Service research stations is because they have the capacity to look at change over long timescales, the timescales that it actually takes for plant communities to change...A five-year project is a really long project for me, but that’s nothing for a plant”
on the other hand, happy to report that the pitt posts have crowded out the ec*modernists on my twitter homepage so
Would be interested in getting your take on their research/methodology. Have to admit to only reading the press release and abstract (full paper behind a paywall and didn't attempt to crack it). Do you think they underestimate US nitrogen needs? Or overestimate waste supply?
Now in front of the paywall- me spiraling about how we have lots of useful interventions against misinformation but most of them don't work when tech isn't willing to implement them and the misinformation is coming from the people currently in charge of public health

haven't looked into this much but the (over)reliance on synthetic fertilizers is super interesting...and now there's a shortage!
timely paper estimates animal and human waste could supply 102% of nitrogen and 50% of phosphorous needs for US ag

fascinating
wait lol are they moderated by oil industry pr firms??
