‘Get Rid of MAHA’: Trump Alliance Cracks as Climate Denialists Turn on RFK Jr.’s Movement At the right-wing Heartland Institute’s International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC) held in Washington, D.C., last week, speakers mocked their usual cast of environmental targets: Greta Thunberg...

My latest story for @desmog.com inside the Heartland Institute’s two-day climate denialism conference:

Major cracks are emerging between climate denialists and MAHA, with fossil fuel allies calling RFK Jr. and his movement a “left-wing op.”

i'm just reporting complaints i've seen by slower runners who have done the boston marathon! not personal experience

23 hours ago 0 0 0 0

sure there's the qualifying times but there's also opportunities to get in by fundraising for a charity. that's how slower runners doing all the world majors get in? so it's not just about how hard it is to get in on time but also breaking down aid station early, crowds not staying to cheer...

of course, everyone has a camera in their pocket so it was incredibly stupid of nike to think what we say in boston stays in boston

boston is famously one of the least-friendly-to-slow-runners marathons out there, according to other slow runners on the internet

23 hours ago 4 0 1 0

my opinion on the controversial nike sign at the boston marathon is that it's a bad look for the brand but they thought they could get away with it in boston because walkers ARE barely tolerated there

"[...] if the [National] Forest loses the research station, they’re also losing that information about how best to do their management."

"And problems in the forest don’t stay in the forest."

#PublicLands research and management are for the public good, and cutting them will cost us.

It seems Washington needs to be reminded of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Washington is right to demand strong non-proliferation guarantees from Iran. But it must treat the institutions that make these guarantees credible as something more than disposable tools.

Weather and the war
Articles on high-risk US military options often refer to (a) strike forces to seize Iranian enriched uranium supplies,
(b) seizing Kharg Island or (c) seizing Qeshm Island, which at 1,500 sq km is larger than Okinawa and Iwo Jima
where some of the fiercest battles of WWII were fought. The Gulf also has unique weather attributes which
may preclude these options as the region heats up over the next couple of months given potential damage to
equipment and troops. For example: in June as peak temperatures reach 126⁰ F, exposed metal temperatures
can reach 160⁰F and vehicle interiors can reach 176⁰ F.
These dynamics may explain why the Trump Administration is reportedly looking for a near-term exit and letting
the rest of the world figure out what to do about the Strait. No

Hopefully ground invasion of Iran won't happen at this point but if it does, soldiers will be facing insanely hot temperatures

‘It’s just madness’: Trump administration to close three-quarters of Forest Service research stations Between funding cuts, facility closures, and the inevitable resignations that will follow, there’s virtually no way for the Forest Service to continue to do research at its current level or quality, w...

“The reason why I love these Forest Service research stations is because they have the capacity to look at change over long timescales, the timescales that it actually takes for plant communities to change...A five-year project is a really long project for me, but that’s nothing for a plant”

Animal and human waste could slash synthetic fertilizer use in US | Cornell Chronicle Waste could fulfill 102% of nitrogen and 50% of phosphorus needs for the nation’s agriculture, and significant amounts could be distributed locally and sustainably.

Would be interested in getting your take on their research/methodology. Have to admit to only reading the press release and abstract (full paper behind a paywall and didn't attempt to crack it). Do you think they underestimate US nitrogen needs? Or overestimate waste supply?
