Is this another case of something in Ogasawara being applied to all of Tokyo…

Ah I see you know the Japanese art of hon’yaku
Last year in December, I hosted my first totally self-organised live music event in Tokyo, and it went better than I could have ever dreamed (the pics are on @angura-live.bsky.social).
This April, we do it again. A few more bands chosen to absolutely blow you away. Watch this space!
Video by me ✌🏻
It’s happening!!!!!
Lovely Summer Chan’s long-awaited 3.5th album “Music For Walking (Out Of The Woods)” is out today! 💊
I supervised the English lyrics for track 2 ‘(Song For Walking) In My Mind’.

The entrance sign for music venue TOKIO TOKYO, with a flyer for the day’s event and an additional sign saying “LIVE MUSIC TODAY” with an arrow pointing to the entrance.
Shout out to TOKIO TOKYO, Shibuya’s ultimate hidden gem 💎
This music venue is in the middle of Shibuya (opposite the PARCO) but is a bastion of alternative culture, with the staff here putting together so many incredible lineups and giving indie acts a space to truly shine. Don’t walk past it.

More Japanese indies on BlueSky ↓↓↓
I think my internal organs are quite happy with the status quo.
Dog/puppy cafes and some of the cat ones are fine (I think the dog ones are actually daycares that owners leave their pets at?), but anything more exotic like owls etc. are not good for the animals.
My personal pet peeves:
1. Navigating by 'city' (ward) rather than by nearest train station. "I'm staying Koto City,"—friend, are you in Kameido or Odaiba?
2. Assuming the mainstream Shibuya/Shinjuku clubs are "Tokyo nightlife." Club culture goes so much deeper...
3. Going to animal cafes :(
I made a list of Japanese indie acts and musicians! Only a handful so far, but I expect more to join this year as many make it their goal to reach more foreign listeners.

Welcome Japan's best Britpop band to BlueSky 🎉
I have both (long story) and infinitely prefer Apple Music. Higher quality, lots of exclusives (interviews etc.), and no irrelevant guff like podcasts and audiobooks filling up the Home Screen. Spotify feels like a messy and engagement-driven social network, AM feels like a real music curation tool.
Revolution+1 looked incredibly cheap, but it seemed to me that the director just didn’t know how to shoot digital. Even on a tiny budget, there’s a lot you can do with lighting, colour grading (incl. film emulation), and editing tricks to bump up the perceived value, and he just didn’t do it.
For all your festive needs: my playlist of Japanese indie Christmas music. open.spotify.com/playlist/6ou...
Dogenzaka is the last bastion, really. Still crazy and messy, perhaps thanks to the love hotels scaring most would-be developers off, and venues like clubasia being true subcultural vanguards (my own documentary about one example: youtu.be/Uwm5zEMeVyg?... ). It’s all after dark though.

Americans when a post literally doesn’t mention America at all:
All the more reason to study it while it’s still around!
Tokyo suddenly switched from very mild autumn to bitter winter today and I am feeling COSY. Coat, big hoodie, fireside music, oh yeah.
Typo here!
